Main Street Productions is holding auditions for a live radio play adaptation of A Christmas Carol, a stage version by Joe Landry with music by Kevin Connors. The production is directed by Brandon Wentz in his Main Street Productions directorial debut. This take presents Dickens’s holiday classic as a 1940s-style radio broadcast with period fruitcake commercials, live sound effects, and musical underscoring. A compact ensemble voices many characters as Ebenezer Scrooge encounters three spirits and discovers the heart of the story. Auditions consist of cold readings from the script. Please bring a headshot and theatrical résumé if available. Open to performers at any experience level. The casting approach is flexible, designed for roughly 5 to 41 performers, with actors covering multiple roles alongside a Foley operator who creates the onstage sounds. Age ranges serve as guidelines and vocal versatility is a priority. Percussion or other instrument experience is helpful for the Foley position but not required. Roles include WBFR radio personalities such as Freddie Filmore, Jake Laurents, Harry "Jazzbo" Haywood, Sally Applewhite, Lana Sherwood, and Rose Bailey, along with a dedicated Foley operator. The concept may expand to include additional radio station characters and roles may be reassigned as needed.
