It is a welcoming night for friends, families, and anyone seeking a fun evening out, celebrating the season and the charm of downtown.

As the season turns, this six-week art workshop offers a gentle pause for reflection, release, gratitude, and renewal. Through hands-on creativity, it provides space to process change, restore energy, and reconnect with yourself. Over the series, participants explore spice-tinted watercolors that evoke warmth and memory, create intuitive pieces focused on letting go, burn their release paintings then shift into a leaf-themed watercolor study that moves from messiness into structure and grounding, craft new work with ashes and remnants as a symbol of rebuilding and transformation, uncover imagery through subtractive methods with layered mixed media, and wrap up with gratitude journaling centered on growth, healing, and carrying intention into the coming season. The focus is not on perfection. It is on slowing down, breathing, reflecting, and engaging in meaningful creative experiences. Held at Artful Transformations, the series includes six classes, each two hours long. It welcomes all skill levels and ages 12 and up. The group is limited to six participants. A minimum of two participants is required, and if that minimum is not met, registrants will be contacted by email and fully refunded.

The gorge overlook provides sweeping views of the rock walls, the creek crossing reveals reflections framed by foliage, sandstone outcrops feature mossy boulders and textured cliff faces, the low creek basin opens to broad water views, and the upper ridge path highlights the treetops and the depth of the valley. Plan for simple logistics at this nature preserve. The entrance is marked with a small ACRES sign and a gravel driveway. Parking is in a small gravel lot with limited space, roadside parking is not recommended, and those who arrive earlier typically find easier spots. Trails are natural surface with a gradual descent into the gorge, sections with exposed roots and rocky footing, and bridges or short boardwalks in places. There are no restrooms on site.

Bring any book and a favorite beverage, or choose one from the library shelves, then settle into the NMPL Adult Department near the computer area. Blankets and comfortable seating will be available for everyone. Colored lanyards will help signal preferences, with red indicating a desire for silence and green inviting a little conversation. There is no cost, no age limit, and no registration required, making it easy to spend time with a book while still being around people.

The 3rd Annual Warren Riverside Run is a 5k for both runners and walkers, starting and finishing at Riverside Park. The route crosses the bridge, follows the Salamonie River, and circles the park, with a post race celebration back at Riverside Park. All proceeds support the Warren Chamber of Commerce. Registration is limited to the first 200 participants. Early registration offers a $25 fee, the price increases to $30 afterward, and race day registration is $35. Race shirts are guaranteed only for those who register by the stated cutoff. Packet pickup takes place at Riverside Park.

The 19th Annual Renaissance in Roanoke transforms historic downtown Roanoke, Indiana into a juried fine art show and handcrafted marketplace, filling Main Street with creativity. This class develops advanced handgun skills with an emphasis on concealment and practical application. Training covers room-clearing techniques, scenarios that simulate injuries and ambushes, shooting from a vehicle, and stress drills that can be adjusted to meet the needs of the training. Guns and ammunition are not sold in connection with this course.

A Level 2 AR-15 class focused on advancing rifle skills through practical scenarios. Training covers movement through confined indoor spaces, drills that replicate injuries and surprise attacks, and engaging targets from inside or around a vehicle. Stress-focused exercises can be scaled to different ability levels. Guns and ammunition are not sold at this event.

Downtown Bluffton comes alive as families in costume visit local storefronts, with activities taking place inside participating businesses and in the City Gym. Attendees can wear their favorite costumes, enjoy spooky decorations, and pick up treats at the City Gym, while businesses on the outskirts of town will also be handing out candy. This free, rain or shine celebration is open to the public. In Columbia City, Spartan DEKA and Impact-X Performance Columbia City present a new fitness challenge that tests, gamifies, and celebrates progress. DEKA MILE includes ten functional training zones, each preceded by a 160 meter run, for a total of one mile of running. Competitors can record a DEKA MILE mark and set their sights on DEKA FIT 2026. Space is limited.

Celebrating its 11th year, this Veterans Day event features a 5K run, a bike ride, and a 1 mile walk. The starting area is outside the Indiana National Guard. The 5K includes chip timing, and winners in each category receive socks and dog tags. Complimentary refreshments will be available, along with some feel-good extras at no cost.

Race Beyond Limits, a nonprofit, is taking over from the Bird family and will continue the race’s long-standing traditions, with a special focus on honoring Army veterans this year. Proceeds will once again support Whitley County veterans groups. It offers a welcoming small town atmosphere with the energy of a big city marathon, all in support of local veterans this fall.

Historic Warren Main Street welcomes the season with the 15th Annual Holiday Walk & Festival of Trees, featuring gingerbread houses, throughout downtown Warren. Attendees can explore local businesses and take horse drawn wagon rides through town. A live reindeer, music in multiple locations, decorated trees, and ice carving set a festive scene. Kids can take part in arts and crafts, shoppers can browse for gifts, and story time and sweet treats add to a cheerful community celebration.

Set at Homestead High School, this 5k features a varied course that mixes gravel paths, paved roads, grassy sections, and trail segments. Young participants can take part in a trail dash measuring 15,000 centimeters for children 10 and under, offered at no cost. Strollers and pets are not permitted. There is no race day registration. Advance packet pickup and registration are offered at Fleet Feet South, and packet pickup is also available on race morning at the Homestead Environmental Center. Entry fees depend on the registration window, ranging from $17 to $25 in advance, with packet pickup registration priced at $27, while the Turkey Toddler Trot is free.

The Pathfinder Early Learning Center Turkey Trot has become a Thanksgiving tradition in Huntington County, featuring a 5K run and a one mile walk. The course begins at Pathfinder’s administrative offices, travels around Pehkokia Woods, and passes the Izaak Walton League on the way back. Organizers anticipate more than 1,100 participants, along with spectators and fans. Proceeds support the children and programming at the Early Learning Center.
