    See details

Enjoy a relaxed plein air paint-out at Hathaway Preserve at Ross Run in Wabash County, Indiana, managed by ACRES Land Trust. The setting offers a sandstone gorge shaped by Ross Run, tall cliffs with mossy rock walls, a clear creek that drops over small falls into shallow pools, brilliant fall color along the ridges, and a lively forest canopy. The atmosphere is quiet and tucked away, creating an immersive backdrop for painting in autumn. Artists will find a range of scenes and vantage points. The gorge overlook provides sweeping views of the rock walls, the creek crossing reveals reflections framed by foliage, sandstone outcrops feature mossy boulders and textured cliff faces, the low creek basin opens to broad water views, and the upper ridge path highlights the treetops and the depth of the valley. Plan for simple logistics at this nature preserve. The entrance is marked with a small ACRES sign and a gravel driveway. Parking is in a small gravel lot with limited space, roadside parking is not recommended, and those who arrive earlier typically find easier spots.
