This weekend in Leavenworth, KS

Now in its 48th year, the Tiblow Trot features a 5-mile run, a 5K run or walk, and a 2K walk measuring 1.24 miles. It is held alongside the Tiblow Days celebration, which includes a parade, car show, concerts, vendors, a carnival, and a pickleball tournament. Runners and walkers can choose the distance that suits them.

Prepare for a hill-dominant challenge on the Tiblow Trot course, where ascents pile up like stairs and keep coming once you stop counting. Choose from 2K, 5K, or 5 mile distances, with heat adding to the difficulty. A few practice runs beforehand can make a difference, especially for the 5 mile. Tie your shoes tight and come ready to work your lungs, because the route serves up hill after hill and the only way to reach the finish is to go straight through them. This post alone does not secure entry, so complete registration through the ticket sign up.

Celebrate community with a car show that puts both vehicles and K-9 teams in the spotlight. The show welcomes all makes and models, giving enthusiasts a chance to display their rides. A K-9 demonstration will feature local police dogs and handlers at work. All proceeds support the Bonner Springs PD K-9 Unit.

This year’s memorial scholarship ride puts a playful twist on tradition and is set to be especially memorable. There will be no live auction this year. Look for lighthearted fun like a mug-shot style photo opportunity that does not involve a real jail and a grown-up version of the classic pick-a-duck game. Count on plenty of laughs and moments worth remembering throughout the ride.

Sporting Kansas City hosts the Vancouver Whitecaps at Children’s Mercy Park for an MLS match. With contrasting styles on display, this late-summer meeting comes near the end of the campaign as both sides look to collect points in the standings.

Teams of two can compete in a doubles pickleball tournament at the Bonner Springs Community Center, held in celebration of Tiblow Days and suited to both casual and competitive players. Early registration is $30 per team, then the fee increases to $40 per team, and registration closes before the tournament.
