    A listening room concert brings together Mark Schatz and Bryan McDowell with Brown’s Dream for an evening of wide-ranging American acoustic music. Schatz and McDowell, a multi-generational duo of multi-instrumentalists, move from old-time and bluegrass to folk and swing, blending traditional pieces with their own originals. Their album Grit & Polish reached #1 on the DJ Folk Charts in 2021. Western North Carolina native Bryan McDowell grew up steeped in influences from Doc Watson to Charlie Parker, while Mark Schatz has toured and recorded with Bela Fleck, Nickel Creek, Tony Rice, and Tim O’Brien. Having performed together in The Claire Lynch Band from 2009 to 2014, they now share a dynamic show that also features Mark’s colorful hambone and Appalachian clog dancing. Brown’s Dream is the performance project of Louisville musician and educator Matt Brown. His touring history includes Rhythm in Shoes, Footworks Percussive Dance Ensemble, The Steel Wheels, a duet with Greg Reish, and solo performances. He focuses on building a collaborative atmosphere with the audience, encouraging group singing and a contagious toe-tap. Brown teaches fiddle, banjo, and guitar to students around the world and serves as Education Coordinator at the Louisville Folk School. This edition of Brown’s Dream appears as a trio with mandolinist Dave Howard and fiddler Jannell Canerday. Open to the public, ticketed, and BYOB.
