At The Dinner Detective, a true crime murder mystery dinner puts you at the center of a comedic yet challenging case while you enjoy a full meal. The culprit hides in plain sight somewhere in the room, and at any moment you could find yourself tagged as a prime suspect. This immersive format departs from typical whodunits, unfolding in the present and in real time, with performers mingling among the audience to keep the clues—and the laughter—coming. Expect a lively, social, and interactive evening for adults, with a track record of nationwide performances since 2004 and plenty of intrigue and unscripted surprises along the way.

University United Methodist Church will host a full-band concert in the sanctuary featuring the nationally touring duo Clay Parker and Jodi James, with local musician and UUMC youth member Katie Love opening. This community gathering is open to everyone, and half of all proceeds will support Front Yard Bikes, a Baton Rouge nonprofit that mentors kids through hands-on programs like bike repair, gardening, cooking, welding, construction, tutoring, and plenty of fun. Suggested contributions are $20 per individual, $50 per family, and $10 for students, payable in cash or online at the event. All are welcome regardless of ability to pay. Clay Parker and Jodi James are known for clear harmonies and plainspoken lyrics that draw on folk traditions while reaching into jazz, rock, and contemporary folk. They have performed across the country in intimate rooms, theaters, and major festivals, including multiple appearances at New Orleans Jazz Fest. Rolling Stone has spotlighted them among notable emerging country acts, though their current sound defies any single label. Their latest release is titled Your Very Own Dream. Katie Love, a long-time member of the church and an emerging contemporary folk artist, released her debut album Time for Moving On and celebrated with a sold-out hometown release show before continuing to build momentum locally. Recent out-of-state stops included an opener for Terry Klein at NeWorlDeli in Austin and a co-headline with Eric Schmitt at Kojak’s Cafe in Houston. Her music has drawn comparisons to Jason Isbell and early Brandi Carlile, and she is now developing a second album with a full band.
