    Eat the Season Cooking Class

Red Stick Spice Company, 660 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge · verified Aug 30
    See details

At Red Stick Spice Company, Eat the Season offers a hands-on cooking class that ties everyday cooking to the freshest harvest from local farms. Each $110 registration covers one person, and participants work in pairs at shared stations to prepare dishes that come together as a group meal. The class is led by Kelli, the Teaching Kitchen Chef whose background in restaurants and catering, along with a deep connection to farmers markets and produce stands, shapes a menu built from what she sources that week. The specific vegetables, greens, and fruits change with the market and evolve with the seasons, but the goal remains the same... to make the most of peak, locally grown ingredients. Sourcing highlights markets, produce stands, Iverstine Butcher, and Fullness Farm. The experience concludes with a full meal, and everyone leaves with recipes and a store discount for in-store or online purchases. Earlier summer menus have included items like fig-stuffed bites with a sweet and spicy dip, tomato bruschetta with basil, bone-in Iverstine pork chops with peach and bourbon barbecue sauce, summer greens with watermelon and feta dressed in lemon vinaigrette, roasted seasonal squash or eggplant, and berry shortcake with hand-whipped cream. The menu for August and September will be shared closer to the class. Please note the transfer policy. Payments are not refundable. If you need to move to another class, requests must be received at least seven working days in advance. Later requests cannot be accommodated, but you may send someone in your place.
