    Temple Support

Sangha House NOLA, 2004 Lapeyrouse St, New Orleans · verified Aug 9
    Free

Temple Support is a continuing volunteer opportunity that helps sustain a sacred environment with thoughtful care. Volunteers assist with everyday upkeep such as dusting and wiping surfaces, sweeping and mopping floors, tending house plants, arranging flowers or offerings, and keeping altars and other sacred areas neat. Help is also needed to organize the Freedom Library, restock supplies, take out trash and recycling, and maintain outdoor spaces and entryways. Volunteers may welcome and guide visitors, support set up and clean up for ceremonies, run small supply errands, and provide light administrative assistance. No special skills are required, only a willing spirit and readiness to serve. Consistent attention keeps the temple a respectful and peaceful place for gathering, healing, and growth, easing the burden that might otherwise fall on a small few. Every contribution supports a space that serves the whole community, keeps the Freedom Library accessible, ensures visitors feel welcomed, and allows temple leadership to focus on programming, guidance, and community care. Modest, covered clothing is recommended out of respect for the space. All cleaning supplies and tools are provided, so volunteers only need to bring themselves and the intention to help.

Chateau Golf & Country Club in Kenner, Louisiana hosts a two-day, 36-hole four-ball stroke play championship that crowns Louisiana’s top senior team. The field is capped at the first 80 teams, and all competitors play 18 holes each day at scratch with no handicaps. Eligibility is open to Louisiana residents who are amateur golfers and members of an LGA member club in good standing. Each player must be at least 50 years of age. A concurrent Super Senior division is available for players 65 and older, who compete only within that division from a forward set of tees. Team age group is determined by the younger partner, and second-day pairings are based on first-round scores. The entry fee is $400 per two-man team and includes cart fees for a practice round and for tournament play. Withdrawals are refundable under the stated policy, and a $70 service charge applies to all refunds. Participants have practice privileges at the host course prior to competition. Competitors must adhere to the dress code, which requires proper golf attire. Denim, cutoffs, gym shorts, and tee shirts are not permitted, and shorts must be Bermuda length. The club is spikeless, so spikeless shoes are required. Prizes will be awarded to the top five teams overall and the top three teams in the Super Senior division. A sudden-death playoff will decide the overall and Super Senior titles if there is a tie, and other ties will be settled by the USGA scorecard matching method. Play is governed by the current USGA Rules of Golf and the LGA Rules of Play Card, with all decisions by the LGA Rules Committee final.
