Free events in Brockton, MA

Liberty Baptist Church hosts the fourth annual Back to School Bash, a 100% free event open to the public. Families will find free food, snow cones and fresh-popped popcorn, along with a bounce house, inflatable games and complimentary haircuts for kids. The first 60 children who register on the day of the event will receive a backpack filled with school supplies. Backpacks are distributed on a first come, first served basis in the order of day-of sign-in, and each child must be present from sign-in until receiving a backpack. Each backpack includes age-appropriate supplies, with additional age-specific items available while supplies last. There is no preregistration and no proof of income or residency is required. Children may attend with friends or relatives, and every child must be accompanied by an adult age 18 or older. Parking will be available in designated areas, and attendants will direct vehicles for safety.

Old Colony YMCA’s Brockton Branch offers a free Summer in the City 2026 program for teens ages 12 to 18. The experience provides a safe, creative setting to connect with peers, explore new skills, and build community throughout the summer. Participants can express themselves through painting and other visual arts, work on hands-on creative projects, take part in team activities, and join community outings. There are also opportunities to strengthen social connections and practice leadership. Registration is required.

Connect with other adults on a casual guided walk along Sheep Pasture’s trails. NRT educator Hannah leads the group, offering a simple way to get outside and chat with new and familiar faces. This program is free. Meet outside the Carriage House building, identified by two sets of double doors and a concrete ramp across the driveway from the chicken coops. For the comfort and safety of the group, please do not bring dogs.
