The host keeps everything moving with light icebreakers so chats feel natural and upbeat. When the event sells out, a waitlist is managed through Eventbrite, and tickets must be secured in advance on that platform. Important policies are in place to support a positive experience. The organizer does not conduct background checks or identity verification, so participants are responsible for their own safety, including using caution with personal information and choosing public places for any follow up meetings. Events may be postponed or canceled if registration is low, with either a full refund or the option to transfer to another date. Refunds are available in full if requested at least a week ahead. Within a week, refunds or transfers are not offered, though a future discount may be possible in some cases. Grammy-winning Panamanian pianist and Doris Duke Artist Danilo Pérez leads a trio with Ben Street on bass and Adam Cruz on drums, revisiting his landmark PanaMonk project, a 1996 album that helped shape Latin jazz. The group reimagines Thelonious Monk’s compositions through a Caribbean perspective with rhythmic drive and lyrical focus. DownBeat has described PanaMonk as one of the most important jazz piano recordings, and a Lincoln Center performance of this material drew praise from The New York Times for its exhilaration, emotional resonance, and assured lyricism. Across more than three decades, Pérez has been celebrated as a major creative voice in contemporary music. Rooted in jazz, his Global Jazz approach blends Panamanian heritage, Latin American folk traditions, West African rhythms, and touches of European impressionism to create a borderless, multidimensional sound. His discography spans a dozen albums, and his honors include the Doris Duke Artist Award, the United States Fellowship, and the Smithsonian Legacy Award. He has also spent nearly two decades in the Wayne Shorter Quartet with John Patitucci and Brian Blade, appearing on Blue Note’s EMANON, which earned the 2019 Grammy for Best Jazz Instrumental Album. This program centers on the PanaMonk repertoire interpreted by three seasoned improvisers.

Experience in-person training in the Usui Reiki Ryoho tradition with Nicholas Pearson as guide. This third-degree and master teacher course, known as shinpiden or mystery teachings, supports second degree practitioners and established instructors who want to deepen their understanding, expand their skills, and cultivate inner peace. Reiki, a spiritual practice and healing art honored worldwide, works with universal life energy to bring balance to body, mind, and spirit. Practitioners receive empowerments called reiju, sometimes referred to as initiations or attunements, to connect with and share this energy. The curriculum revisits essential principles from the first and second degrees, explores the history, meaning, and application of the fourth symbol and its mantra, and teaches how to offer reiju and Western-style attunements in person and at a distance. Participants study advanced Japanese techniques, refine approaches for healing and personal development, and gain practical strategies for planning and teaching effective classes. Guidance is also provided on facilitating community practice, including Reiki shares, training sessions, and reiju-kai. Those who complete the program receive the title shihan, the Japanese term for instructor, often called Reiki Master in many lineages. Graduates are trained to conduct the reiju ceremony to transmit Reiki to others. Each participant receives a certificate, a comprehensive manual with supplemental materials, traditional reiju to affirm connection with the Usui Reiki Ryoho lineage, dedicated practice time for treatments, attunements, and advanced meditations, plus resources for continuing education and professional growth. Ongoing support from Nicholas continues after the course. Nicholas brings decades of experience in the healing arts and insight gathered from studying multiple Reiki styles around the world. His teaching emphasizes the spiritual heart of the practice and provides clear, in-depth instruction for meaningful, sustainable growth. Prerequisites include initiation and training through the first and second degrees in any Reiki lineage, with certificates that may be requested, at least six months of personal or professional practice, the ability to conduct sessions both in person and remotely, and a commitment to live by the Five Precepts. A discounted rate at a nearby Hampton Inn may be available for travelers upon request by email.

Women composers answer those texts in their own voices, like notes in the margins that reveal how the words speak to them. The program features music by Gitta Steiner, Hildegard, Rhona Clarke, Rhian Samuel, and by Cappella Clausura’s founding director, Amelia LeClair. The performance takes place at Grace Episcopal Church Newton.

A live stage trial in Boston follows the investigation of a stolen $20 million necklace. The audience weighs what unfolds and delivers the final verdict, shaping how this courtroom drama concludes.

Experience a therapeutic sound immersion where resonant tones from crystal and Tibetan singing bowls, gongs, and bells wash over you. The session aims to foster deep rest, ease stress, and support overall well-being through vibrations you can feel in your body as well as hear. Rather than focusing on melody, the steady rhythms encourage mental release and guide you into a meditative state that can lessen stress and anxious feelings. Many participants notice waves of vibration moving through the body, creating a distinctly physical experience. Possible benefits include reduced stress and anxiety, better sleep, an uplifted mood, and a lasting sense of calm. Dress in loose, comfortable clothing, as you will be resting in stillness for an extended stretch. Bring a warm layer such as a sweater or blanket, since body temperature can dip during deep relaxation. Plan to arrive on time or a little early. Entry closes once the session begins and late arrivals cannot be admitted.

An immersive courtroom drama from Law&Crime places the audience in the jury box, turning a night at the theater into a high-stakes deliberation. As the Burning House case unfolds, attendees listen to testimony, examine evidence, and vote at decisive moments that can alter the course of the trial, with the final verdict determined by the crowd. This is not a passive show... the justice delivered comes from the people in the seats. The case centers on wedding planner Mary Barrett and her boyfriend, firefighter Danny Cullen. After Mary breaks years of sobriety during a party and a fierce argument follows, Danny is later found dead and his home is destroyed by fire. Angry messages from Mary, traces of accelerant in her car, and a night she can barely recall all seem incriminating. Yet unanswered questions muddy the picture. Danny suffered a serious head injury before the fire, key security footage is missing, and the arson investigator, Mikey Doyle, was Danny’s close friend and had clashed with him over secret messages with Mary. The mystery asks whether Mary set the blaze in a drunken rage or whether the investigator is concealing his own role. The experience includes themes of violent and accidental death, relapse and addiction, and intense domestic conflict, with emotionally charged moments and a detailed discussion of a fatal fire. Presented at Regent Theatre Arlington. Seating is general admission within the zone purchased. The venue is wheelchair accessible with a designated wheelchair area. It is suitable for ages 12 and up, and anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. An on-site bar serves drinks and snacks and accepts cash only. Signed copies are not guaranteed for those who do not attend. About "Exit Party": The writer of "Station Eleven" and "Sea of Tranquility" returns with a sweeping story of doubles, shadow worlds, and fractured timelines. In Los Angeles in 2031, during the first spring after the United States has collapsed, peacekeepers leave the city, jacarandas bloom, and the curfew lifts. Ari Waker and her roommate traverse Silverlake past bomb-sniffing dogs, makeshift encampments, and Red Cross tents to reach a raucous apartment party where the room hums with dancing and someone shimmers in a silver, tinfoil-like dress. Then everything tilts... a bewildered twin appears and the host, Kareem, vanishes. Ari’s search for what happened threads through a future America splintered by civil war, a cliffside resort in Greece where arms dealers hide in elegance, a domed Paris, and a settlement on the moon. The novel probes the cost of safety, the dangers of pervasive surveillance, and the resilience required in times of upheaval. Emily St. John Mandel’s "Sea of Tranquility" has been translated into 25 languages and was named among President Barack Obama’s favorite books of 2022. "The Glass Hotel" also appeared on his list, was shortlisted for the Scotiabank Giller Prize, and has been translated into 26 languages. "Station Eleven" was a finalist for the National Book Award and the PEN/Faulkner Award, won the 2015 Arthur C. Clarke Award, has been translated into 36 languages, and was adapted as a limited series on HBO Max. She lives in New York City and Los Angeles. Allegra Goodman is the author of seven novels, including the national bestseller "Isola", a Reese’s Book Club pick, as well as two short story collections and a novel for young readers. Her fiction has appeared in The New Yorker and has been selected for The O. Henry Awards and Best American Short Stories. She lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
