Beatles classics drive a musical narrative about love, conflict, and the search for peace. The story centers on Jude, a dockworker from Liverpool played by Jim Sturgess, who travels to the United States in hopes of finding his estranged father and falls for Lucy, portrayed by Evan Rachel Wood, an American who has grown up in comfort. Their relationship unfolds amid the upheaval of the late 1960s, including anti-war activism in Greenwich Village, pulling them into sweeping social change. As political pressure mounts, the couple moves through a psychedelic landscape. Appearances by Bono, Joe Cocker, Salma Hayek, and Eddie Izzard are featured. Afterward, an in-person conversation with director Julie Taymor, composer Elliot Goldenthal, and cast member and musician Martin Luther McCoy will take place.
