At Academy of Music Theatre, World Ballet Company stages Swan Lake, the legendary story where destiny and enchantment intertwine in a classic clash between good and evil. A cast of 50 international dancers performs amid hand-crafted sets and more than 150 hand-sewn costumes. Signature scenes are showcased, from the Dance of the Little Swans to the Black Swan’s famous series of 32 fouettés, all carried by Tchaikovsky’s unforgettable score. The performance is approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes with a 20-minute intermission and is suitable for ages 5 and older. World Ballet Company, based in Los Angeles and led by Sasha Gorskaya and Gulya Hartwick, brings beloved ballets to cities nationwide. The ensemble features accomplished artists from over ten countries and has toured to more than 300 cities, reaching audiences totaling over 500,000.

The NEECA Triathlon brings a team-focused challenge with three legs that include biking, running or jogging, and horseback riding. Each team designates one participant for each segment, and recognition is given for the fastest combined team time as well as top individual times in each category. With a welcoming atmosphere for families and friends, it blends friendly competition with plenty of fun.

Celebrate the close of the season at the Community Canvas End of Summer Festival. A virtual option lets participants track miles any time during Hunger Action Month in September. The goal is to raise $300,000, with every mile, rider, and dollar pushing Western Massachusetts closer to a hunger free future.

Curious kids explore famous tales and test ideas at High Five Books in a 10 session afterschool club for ages 7 to 10, with ages 11 and up welcome as CITs. From Bigfoot to the Loch Ness legend to the bedtime spider myth, participants look at each story through two lenses... what people believe and what the science indicates. Using a clear framework, they trace a legend’s origins, examine any proof and how it was gathered, consider experiments they could try, and record observations in a field journal like real investigators. Every meeting ends with a decision based on the evidence... busted, plausible, or confirmed. It is more than a monster club, it is a friendly space to practice critical thinking and evidence based reasoning.

Cookie Club is an eight session after school baking program where kids explore the science, techniques, and pure fun of making cookies. In a fully equipped kitchen at the Florence Civic Center, participants work from scratch with teacher support, learning to measure accurately, mix and cream batters, fold doughs, and add finishing touches. Along the way, they discover why some cookies spread in the oven, how butter influences texture and flavor, and how a single ingredient swap can change the final result. Each meeting introduces a new cookie and a fresh skill to practice. The program is designed for ages 7 to 11, with opportunities for ages 12 and up to participate as CITs. The fee is $300 and includes taking home a share of each batch so families can enjoy the treats every week.

Let imaginations take shape with a relaxed LEGO building time at the Carnegie Library. Children ages 6 to 11 can create and construct with the library’s LEGO collection during open hours on Wednesdays. FRTA bus routes 22, 24, 32, and 23 provide transit options to reach the library. Accessibility features include one accessible parking space on the 7th Street side of the building, a wheelchair ramp entered from the driveway on that side with an automatic door at the top, and a restroom whose entrance is not fully ADA compliant.
