Play Magic: The Gathering in the Commander format at Round Table Games. Commander highlights legendary creatures and big, multiplayer moments. Each player chooses a legend to lead a 99 card deck built only from that commander’s colors, with single copies of cards other than basic lands. Commanders can be cast again after they leave the battlefield, so your leader can keep returning to the fight. The atmosphere focuses on teaching, camaraderie, and having fun alongside friendly competition. Entry is $10. Every participant receives one regularly priced Magic Draft, Set, or Play booster pack. Players who sign in through Eventlink also earn 10 RTG Reward points per game, with Knights receiving double points, and a randomly selected participant takes home a foil promo pack while supplies last.

Enjoy a streamlined portrait session with a local photographer among historic architecture and scenic waterfront views. The Mini Portrait Experience includes 15 minutes of photography and one image of your choice to download. After the shoot, a Zoom video call will be scheduled to select your favorite photo, which will be edited and delivered digitally. If you decide you want more than the one included, additional digital images and printed pieces such as boxed prints, wall art, albums, and cards are available for purchase. Extended sessions and options for multiple locations are also offered for anyone who wants extra time in front of the camera.

At Plympton Public Library, a casual drop-in meetup welcomes fiber crafters of every experience level to work on their own projects in good company. Bring knitting, crochet, cross-stitch, embroidery, weaving, spinning, or any other fiber craft, enjoy conversation, swap tips, and spark new ideas in a relaxed setting. No sign-up is needed, simply come with a project for an easygoing evening of making together. This program meets on the fourth Thursday each month.

Presented by The Antonia and Vladimir Kulaev Cultural Heritage Fund, this lobby series spotlights local and regional musicians in a relaxed, intimate setting, with the space transformed into a 70-seat showcase lounge. This performance features the Greg Abate Quartet. An American jazz saxophonist, flutist, composer, and educator, Greg Abate is celebrated for a hard-bop approach and a powerful, swinging alto sound. He studied at Berklee College of Music, served as lead alto with the Ray Charles Orchestra early in his career, has recorded 24 albums as a leader, and tours internationally with regular appearances in the UK, Austria, and France. His collaborations include work with artists such as Phil Woods and Kenny Barron. Abate has placed near the top of DownBeat’s Readers Poll for alto saxophone, including recent number 2 and number 3 finishes, and has earned recognition in both the magazine’s readers and critics polls, including Rising Star honors. He is known for keeping the bebop tradition vibrant while writing and arranging original music, and his recordings have received wide acclaim. Joining him are pianist Chris Taylor, a self-taught player from Wichita whose years in Philadelphia’s 1980s jazz scene included performances with figures such as Philly Joe Jones, Bobby Durham, Mickey Roker, Jack Six, Christian McBride, Charles Fambrough, Joe Ford, Al Cohn, and Larry McKenna. Drummer Gary Johnson, son of New England jazz great Dick Johnson, toured extensively with the Artie Shaw Orchestra under Dick Johnson’s direction and has accompanied artists including Rosemary Clooney, Buddy DeFranco, and Helen Forrest. He has been a mainstay with ensembles such as Swingshift, Lou Colombo’s group, and Ray Santisi’s quartet, and has performed with luminaries like Dizzy Gillespie, Dave McKenna, Scott Hamilton, Ken Peplowski, Greg Abate, Ruby Braff, Keely Smith, and Phil Wilson’s Big Band. Bassist Todd Baker, a Berklee graduate, has performed with the Artie Shaw Orchestra, the Woody Herman band, and the Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, and has shared the stage with Rosemary Clooney, Cab Calloway, The Four Freshmen, and Scott Hamilton. He has also taught at the University of Massachusetts and Rhode Island College. The evening centers on close-up jazz in a listening-room atmosphere, reflecting the series’ focus on high-caliber musicianship in a comfortable, small-scale setting.

Frights and fun fill Jellystone Park Cranberry Acres during a Halloween-themed weekend. Brave the haunted experience, enjoy the Magic Pumpkin Experience, and enter the Costume Contest. Take part in trick-or-treating, then compete in the Spooky Site Decorating Contest and the Ghostly Golf Cart Decorating Contest. Activities are offered on the weekend only.

Round Table Games hosts a Friday Night Magic draft with a chaos twist, creating a welcoming space to meet other Magic: The Gathering fans, play, discover new cards, and enjoy friendly competition. New players and longtime veterans are equally encouraged, and teaching, camaraderie, and fun are valued alongside the matches themselves. Entry is simply the cost of the packs you draft, and the previous month’s Magic League winner receives a 10% discount. Everyone drafts from three Magic Draft or Play boosters of their choosing. Players who check in through Eventlink earn 10 RTG Reward points for each round played, Knights receive double stamps, one randomly selected participant takes home a foil promo pack, and placement awards provide additional points, with the possibility of extra prizes. The top finisher also receives a promo pack, one Play booster selected by the store, and 100 RTG Reward points.

Donna The Buffalo delivers a performance steeped in roots rock from a group that has made music a way of life for its members and audiences. Active since 1989, the band has played thousands of shows and appeared at major festivals such as Bonnaroo, Newport Folk Festival, Telluride, Austin City Limits Festival, Merle Fest, and the Philadelphia Folk Festival. Their touring history includes opening for The Dead and sharing the road with Peter Rowan, Del McCoury, Los Lobos, Little Feat, Jim Lauderdale, Rusted Root, and Railroad Earth. They have also partnered with Ben & Jerry’s co-founder Ben Cohen on tour to raise awareness about increased corporate spending in politics. In addition to performing, the group founded the Finger Lakes GrassRoots Festival in Trumansburg, New York in 1991, a four day gathering that draws over 15,000 people each year. Started as an AIDS benefit, it now supports arts and education and has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars. The festival has grown into a trio of GrassRoots events that include the bi-annual Shakori Hills festival in North Carolina and the Virginia Key festival in Florida. In 2016, GrassRoots Culture Camp debuted in Trumansburg with four days of music, art, dance and movement workshops, along with nightly dinners and dances.

Based in Plymouth, Massachusetts, this full-day experience spotlights Cape Cod's marine wildlife, including whales, dolphins, great white sharks, and seabirds. Experts from Whale and Dolphin Conservation and the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy will be aboard to discuss biology, behavior, and conservation, with a focus on the science that helps protect ocean life. Ticket purchases help fund both organizations and their efforts to safeguard whales, sharks, and healthy ocean ecosystems.

Celebrate MA250 with a relaxed day in historic Plymouth that blends easy rail travel, immersive history, and time by the water. Begin on the MBTA Commuter Rail’s Kingston Line from South Station to Kingston Station with simple, step-by-step guidance. A van meets the train and provides comfortable transportation around town, removing the hassle of driving and traffic. Spend about two hours at Plimoth Patuxet Museums, where interpreters portray daily life in the 17th century. Continue to the waterfront to explore Mayflower II, a replica built to the original scale of the 1620 ship, with approximately 45 minutes set aside on board. Afterward, enjoy three unstructured hours along the scenic harbor. Stroll the waterfront, browse local shops, choose a seaside lunch spot, or relax by the ocean, with curated suggestions to help plan the visit. Created to mark the nation’s 250th anniversary, Ballet Magnificat! presents Anchored: The Pilgrim Story in Massachusetts at Plymouth Memorial Hall. Through expressive choreography, the production explores the Pilgrims’ resolve and faith, their dangerous transatlantic journey, and the bonds that formed with Native Americans. It reflects on the enduring ideals of religious freedom, personal responsibility, and equality, themes that helped pave the way for American independence.

Longtime leaders in Celtic rock, The Young Dubliners deliver a high-energy blend of Irish traditions and modern rock. They are actively working on their tenth studio album with longtime producer Tim Boland while keeping a full touring schedule after returning to the road with renewed momentum. The show features fresh material and a powerful live feel from Keith Roberts on vocals and guitar, Chas Waltz on violin, keys, and vocals, Justin Pecot on guitar and vocals, Dave Ingraham on drums, and Ethan Jones on bass guitar. The band highlights how much a great concert can lift spirits after recent years, and they are inviting fans to help fund the new album as co-producers so they can retain creative control.

The Calyx Piano Trio, featuring violinist Catherine French, cellist Jennifer Lucht, and pianist Nina Ferrigno, anchors this performance. Formed in Boston in 2001, the ensemble is recognized for cohesive ensemble work and a sustained commitment to new music alongside treasured classics. Their hallmark programming connects composers like Beethoven and Brahms with contemporary voices that push the piano trio forward. Through partnerships with Chamber Music America and the Barlow Foundation, they have commissioned and premiered works by James Lee III, Derek Bermel, Lansing McLoskey, Amy Beth Kirsten, and Florent Ghys, including the recent debut of Ghys’s multimedia Huit Clos in St. Louis. The trio’s leadership at the Missouri Chamber Music Festival and the Carolina Chamber Music Festival underscores an ongoing mission to bring thoughtful, imaginative chamber music to audiences nationwide, presented with polished artistry and technical command.
