Summer intensive classes: Old style battering (all levels) + Archival dance videos (advanced)
An Irish dance summer intensive in College Park presents two focused classes on the University of Maryland campus. The all-levels Old Style Battering session develops rhythmic footwork to support sean nós and country set dance practice, with patterns that may draw from Connemara, Clare, Caledonian, and Cavan step variations, among others. The advanced Archival Dance Videos class explores choreography and technique from historical recordings, including Donncha and Celine’s heavy slip jig, Joe O’Donovan’s old style set dances, Peggy Cannon’s light slip jig, and hornpipes by Muiread and Frieda Gray. The exact on-campus location will be announced.

Kids can follow step-by-step guidance to paint Stitch in this art class at Courtyard by Marriott. All supplies are provided, so participants of any skill level can create their own masterpiece. Breakfast and Starbucks coffee are available for purchase at the on-site bistro before class begins, and the session centers on painting, creating, and making masterpieces.
