Educator Amy Simso Dean leads a calm, educational birding walk at Lakewood that welcomes all ages and all levels of birding experience. Binoculars are provided. The outing starts with a short lesson on technique and local bird diversity, then continues as a group walk focused on observing and learning about birds. This is a walking activity on easy to moderate terrain at a gentle pace. Plan for approximately 1.5 miles, and note that seating is not available. Comfortable, close-toed shoes are strongly encouraged. The route is set near scenic Jo Pond, Lakewood’s onsite lake, located about a half mile from the main gate, and directional signs will be posted.
