Celebrate the fall equinox at Hartley with DXC, COGGs, and DUFTA. Group mountain bike rides, ski walking, and hikes depart from the nature center at a social, no drop pace. Hartley will have a limited selection of adult, children, and strider bikes available for the group ride on a first come, first served basis. A potluck follows at the nature center, and attendees are encouraged to bring a favorite fall dish to share. Pulled pork and grilled mushroom sliders will be provided courtesy of Thrivent.

Learn practical ways to reduce cancer risk with guidance on nutrition, smoking cessation, staying active, and limiting alcohol. Presentations are led by Umar Siddiqui, MD, Kelly Chaudoin-Patzoldt, PsyD, LP, Brenda Schwerdt, RDN, LD, CNSC, and Eva Trueblood-Pearce, DPT. As part of Vista Fleet’s Lake Superior Live summer music series, the voyage highlights Duluth’s waterfront, with routes that, weather permitting, pass through the Duluth Canal and the Superior Entry for expansive views of the lake, working harbor activity, and the city skyline. NAMI Connection Recovery Support Group offers a free, peer-led space for adults who have experienced symptoms of a mental health condition. Participants share challenges and successes in a supportive setting, and discussions are guided by trained leaders with lived experience. The setting is the RavenFed Underground Gathering Hall in the lower level of Believers Church.

Bring a story and speak it straight from memory. The setup is simple, with no written notes, just you, a microphone, and the audience. Plan for roughly five minutes per telling. A facilitator will guide the room and has discretion over the flow.

The second annual Twilight Trot 5k and Sunset Stroll invites participants to take in the Lake Superior shoreline with a choice of a run or a walk, presented by Covenant Ability Network of Minnesota. The 5k follows an out-and-back route on the Lakewalk, while the 1-mile stroll heads toward the Aerial Lift Bridge. The course begins and ends at the Lakewalk Endion Station, moving northeast along the Lakewalk before returning to the downtown area. For safety, participants are asked to keep to the right, as there will be two-way runner traffic along parts of the route. Covenant Ability Network of Minnesota is a nonprofit that provides residential services for adults with disabilities in Duluth, Lino Lakes, and Blaine.

Camp Meow transforms the Wired Whiskers Coffee Shop & Cat Adoption Center Outdoor Market into a camp themed celebration of all things feline. The Humane Society of Douglas County is the featured rescue organization, shining a spotlight on cats, community, and its ongoing work. Browse offerings from local makers, artists, and small businesses, connect with HSDC, and meet adoptable animals in a welcoming market setting.

Contribute to a collaborative mosaic mural that celebrates the stories of people and place through community art making at Chambers Grove. This hands-on activity is open to participants of all ages. Artist Ginger Juel is a fiscal year 2026 recipient of a Creative Individuals grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. Support is provided by the Minnesota State Arts Board through funding made possible by Minnesota voters via a legislative appropriation from the Minnesota State Legislature, and by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Celebrate fall at the fifth annual Applepalooza in Duluth, a free, family-friendly weekend at the DECC’s Pioneer Hall. Enjoy Dixon’s Champagne and Honeycrisp apples with fresh apple cider, live music throughout the weekend, more than 70 craft vendors featuring local artisans, a bouncy house for kids and kids at heart, food trucks, and a petting zoo with more than 20 animals plus horse and pony rides for all ages. This women’s hiking retreat explores the Superior Hiking Trail with a balance of adventure and comfort. Expect brilliant fall foliage and sweeping views of Lake Superior’s rugged shoreline while hiking roughly 7 to 10 miles each day under the care of two Wilderness First Responder guides in a supportive, women-only group. Evenings bring resort-style condo lodging, hot showers, a satisfying dinner, and a private bed, so there is no camping required. The activity level is rated 3 on a 1 to 5 scale and women of all ages are welcome. Group size is limited to eight participants plus two experienced guides, with pricing and more details to be shared soon.

At Ren Market, a pop-up sewing station offers on-the-spot mending for worn clothing, from fixing broken straps to repairing tears and patching holes. Bring items that need simple fixes and, while the work is done, browse a selection of low waste goods. This clinic appears on the last Sunday of each month and focuses on quick, practical repairs.

An open mic at the Duluth Folk School and Dovetail Cafe welcomes both performers and listeners. Take the mic or simply enjoy the performances. Sign up on arrival for a 15 minute slot.
