Beginner-Friendly Lesson Series: Ballroomin' with Lindy & Brenda

1414 St Albans St N, St Paul · verified Aug 30
    See details

Explore the Ballroomin' side of Blues in a beginner friendly lesson series taught by Brenda Mora-Pallares and Lindy Bowen. Designed for newcomers and for dancers who want to go deeper, these classes build skills for traveling movement with extra swing and sway and get you ready for the Ballroomin' music featured at North Star Blues, including live bands. The series centers on Blues dances that developed in spacious urban ballrooms and dance halls, where they often shared the floor with swing styles like Lindy Hop. Historic venues such as the Savoy in New York City, the Graystone in Detroit, and Chicago’s Parkway and Savoy helped shape these forms. Sessions take place in the dance studio at the North Dale Recreation Center. Because the curriculum is progressive, sign ups are not accepted once the series is underway. Nearby, The Blues Saloon hosts a Blues jam that offers another opportunity to practice.
