Rondo Center of Diverse Expressions presents the 9th annual ceremony at Rondo Commemorative Plaza, dedicated to placing new commemorative brick pavers along the History Walk. Attendees are invited to share a few words on stage about their bricks, highlighting memories of families, friends, businesses, and organizations connected to Rondo. The 2026 Rondo Achievement Award honoree, Yusef Mgeni, will be recognized with a brick installed along the walk. A new brick path website designed by Macalester College student Jonah Zimmer will help brick purchasers find their bricks more easily and share locations with family and friends, and interviews by Macalester College student Moises Soto Puente will feature stories from past purchasers about what these tributes mean to individuals and families in Rondo. Thomas and Sandra Kustermann are recognized for covering the cost of bricks for centenarians and Rondo Achievement Award winners. Thomas’s grandfather, Emmett McGill, once ran McGill Grocery Store at the site that is now home to the plaza and its engraved brick path. This event is free and open to the public.

In the wake of legal action, four survivors undertake the difficult task of working with the institution that harmed them, seeking justice while offering a hopeful path toward healing. This 2025 documentary runs 89 minutes. Following the screening, a salon style conversation will invite audience questions and comments. Special guests include director Norah Shapiro, producer Elizabeth Foy Larsen, and director of photography Brennan Vance, who will speak with Casket Cinema’s Mark Wojahn. GRAY will then introduce the film, which follows T’Challa, king of Wakanda and the hero Black Panther, as he contends with his rival Killmonger and the political challenges of safeguarding his nation’s security and sovereignty. The film is rated PG-13 and runs 134 minutes. Showtime begins after sunset. Two high-energy acts from different corners of the metal world share the stage as VOID from Lafayette, Louisiana and Phantom from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico bring a surge of thrash and speed. Formed in 2019 by vocalist Jackson Davenport, VOID channels an eerie, technically precise blend of thrash and heavy metal that fuses razor-sharp aggression with a theatrical shadow. Their debut album, Horrors of Reality, arrived in early 2023 and showcased rapid, intricate riffing and commanding vocals, followed by hard touring that expanded a growing underground audience. That run set up their first record deal, then the band pushed further with Forbidden Morals, a full-length concept release tracing a lost traveler’s descent into the castle of Vlad the Impaler. Dark, cinematic, and ferocious, it became a turning point and opened doors to larger tours and wider recognition. VOID has since signed with Metal Blade Records, continuing its ascent in modern traditional metal. Phantom took shape in 2021 under guitarist and vocalist J.C. García, also known as “Necrohex.” Rooted in Speed and Thrash, the group weaves together Traditional HM, Speed Metal, Deathrash, touches of Latin rock, and even textures inspired by classic NES game music. After early demos, the band issued its first album, Handed to Execution, in late 2023, then followed with the Transylvanian Nightmare EP in 2024, which secured a contract with High Roller Records. Their second full-length, Tyrants of Wrath, landed in 2025, with a third record, Not Midnight Yet, on the way. International tours have included festivals such as Keep it True Rising, Obscene Extreme, Hell's Heroes, Thrash Nightmare, and Wacken Open Air. Lyrical themes range from vampirism, horror, dark fantasy, and revenge to personal reflections, all delivered with an intense, aggressive sound that remains raw yet intricately structured.

At The O’Shaughnessy, McKnight Dancer Fellows step into the spotlight with newly created and reimagined solo works shaped specifically for their artistry. Each fellow has invited choreographers to craft pieces for them, resulting in a slate of Minnesota premieres that span Afrobeats, Krump, Contemporary Ballet, and more. Building on the legacy of the late Walter R. Scott Sr., it continues a tradition of documenting Black excellence in Minnesota that includes his self-published works Centennial Edition of the Minneapolis Beacon (1956), Minneapolis Negro Profile (1968), and Minnesota’s Black Community (1976). The showing takes place at the Minnesota Historical Society. The documentary and Scott’s books will be available for purchase at the screening. Minneapolis’ Mickey Breeze, official DJ for the Timberwolves and Twins, integrates live drum pad performance into a seamless journey from hip-hop to EDM to lo-fi. This installment is part of Uptown Vibes, a day of music, food, and art spread across LynLake.

AmberTree showcases a wide selection of sterling silver jewelry at the Farmers Market Annex of Minneapolis. The booth can be found by the giant rooster landmark within the market. This appearance continues their 23rd year of participating. Last year they did not miss any days due to weather, even on an August Saturday when wind sent the rain sideways, and they are aiming to match that strong attendance again.

This clinic operates on a first come, first served basis, with a limit of two dogs or cats per household. Vaccines are free when paired with a $25 physical exam performed by a licensed MN veterinarian. Low cost services include microchipping, nail trims, and dewormer. Animals with medical concerns are not eligible for service.

A relaxed automotive meet centered on imported vehicles of any year, including cars, scooters, and motorcycles. Held in the Associated Dentists lot. Attendees can arrive and depart at their convenience. Please bring a non-perishable food shelf donation. This gathering takes place every other week.

Community Pet Clinics in 2026 take place on the third Sunday of each month at the North Minneapolis Pet Resource Center. Appointments are released monthly, and if all slots are filled, walk-up visits are welcomed as time allows. Early arrival is recommended for the walk-up line. Services include a quick vaccine exam provided by the volunteer veterinary team, core vaccinations for dogs and cats, microchipping with registration through Minneapolis Animal Care and Control, and nail trims. Core vaccines for dogs include rabies, canine DAPPv, and Bordetella, and for cats include rabies and feline HCP. The veterinary team does not diagnose conditions or provide medication. Costs are $40 for dogs and $25 for cats for core vaccinations, a microchip, and a vaccine exam. A distemper vaccination only option is $20 for puppies and kittens. A heartworm test for dogs over six months is $10. Three months of heartworm preventative is $15 with a heartworm test or test results from the past 12 months, and three months of flea and tick preventative is $20. Additional donations are welcome, and payment can be made onsite by credit card or cash. Clinics are open to dogs and cats of all ages, with a minimum age of six weeks to attend. Dogs must be on a non-retractable leash, and cats must arrive in a carrier. Pets should not have received vaccinations within the past year unless they are receiving a booster. A Mobile Pet Resource Center will be on site with supplies such as food, collars, and leashes, and pet-friendly vendors may also be present. For immediate vaccination needs outside the clinic, options include Animal Humane Society, Access Veterinary Care, and Vetco.

Learn the foundations of West African drumming in a Level 1 weekly drop-in class led by Dan.
