They work at a telephone booth, a food truck, and a music store, and Mohini is a regular at their shops, yet none of them approaches her because of fear about their disabilities. When she unexpectedly visits their home, they discover they are all in love with the same person. The story unfolds through their comic efforts to hide their own challenges, expose the others, and win Mohini’s favor, with irony and puns woven throughout. Presented at Fridley High School.

MNDDC will present disc dog demonstrations at the Minnesota State Fair throughout the day. The program highlights freestyle, includes performance freestyle segments, Toss & Fetch, and Frizgility, and welcomes teams at every skill level, including dogs that are just learning. Two demo days are planned this year. Participating teams must be MNDDC members, able to stay for the full day, and willing to assist with duties such as setup, teardown, microphone responsibilities, and field cleanup. To broaden participation, the number of dogs per handler may be limited initially, with the possibility of additional dogs if space becomes available. Demo shirts are required for all teams. Anna, played by Agata Trzebuchowska, has been raised in a convent and is about to take her vows when she is directed to visit her only surviving relative, Wanda, portrayed by Agata Kulesza. Filmed in black and white, Ida follows their meeting as it reveals a story of family tragedy. Released in 2013 and running 82 minutes, the film is in Polish with English subtitles, directed by Pawel Pawlikowski and also featuring Dawid Ogrodnik.

At James Ballentine "Uptown" VFW - Post 246, the Wooden Nickel Extravaganza gives guests a chance to enter a drawing by purchasing a drink. Names are pulled throughout the event, and each selected participant receives a wooden nickel that can be used for $6 off a bar tab. The third edition of the Sloppy Discs Presents series features Céline Sciamma’s Portrait of a Lady on Fire and a conversation led by Emmet Kowler of Sloppy Discs with actor Maggie Cramer. The film follows Marianne, played by Noémie Merlant, who is commissioned to paint a wedding portrait of Héloïse, portrayed by Adèle Haenel. As they spend time together, their connection deepens while Héloïse experiences a first taste of freedom. Their approach grows from the tradition of Fela Kuti, with jazz-trained players crafting dance music that fuses funk and jazz into expansive, hypnotic songs. Rolling Stone has praised their exuberant take on Afrobeat. The ensemble’s name translates from Spanish as “bulletproof” or “anti-bullet,” and its roughly dozen members weave Latin, jazz, classical, funk, and soul into a horn-forward sound. The result is a tapestry of layered rhythms and socially conscious energy that many credit with introducing Afrobeat’s framework to a new generation.
