Chops’ Day of Pan brings the sound of Trinidad and Tobago to Minnesota with more than 100 steel drum musicians from six ensembles presenting two free concerts with special guest Liam Teague. The program begins with a featured solo performance by Liam, an internationally recognized steelpan virtuoso from Trinidad and Tobago who leads Steelpan Studies at Northern Illinois University and has performed around the world. Later, the evening opens with League Night Jazz, continues with the Chops Pan Camp Ensembles performing alongside Liam to showcase what they learned during camp, and wraps up with sets by local steel bands Panatics, Tin Cups, and Pan-Handlers.

In a time of change, the practice centers presence in the body to access innate wisdom and strength that arise both individually and in community. The fifth edition of On The One Music Festival brings a milestone headliner to Bloomington Central Station, with Grammy-nominated R&B vocalist Carl Thomas leading the bill. At Mixed Blood Theatre Company, the show uses a long-form approach to follow Clyde and Faye as they face auditions, setbacks, small roles and new beginnings, playing with a will-they-won’t-they spark. The tone moves between laughs and quieter, reflective moments, with performances grounded enough to feel scripted. Content includes sexual themes, strong language and crude humor, and there may be someone in underwear. Tickets are $25, or $20 with a Minnesota Fringe button. Conceived for Oliver Tree fans during the week he was originally slated to perform in Minneapolis, the event has grown into a multimedia exploration of loss, legacy, and para-social relationships. Musicians, visual artists, and performance artists are invited to contribute works honoring creators who have passed, including musicians, filmmakers, writers, performers, internet personalities, and cultural icons whose influence endures. The evening features live performances by local artists and poets, a collaborative community mural, and a live tattoo station with an Oliver Tree tribute flash sheet. A Razor scooter auction will raise funds for Dr. Oliver Tree’s Extremely Epic Art Grant for Baby Geniuses. Entry is free, with donations welcome. This is an all-ages program, though some artwork, performances, or discussions may include mature themes, explicit content, and strong language. Plans also include an Oliver Tree sing along tribute DJ set for the final portion of the night, noted as tentative. Shaped by the shared mourning that followed Oliver Tree’s death in June 2026, the exhibition focuses on music, memory, and the ways art helps people navigate grief while celebrating the creators who left a lasting mark. Programming is in development and may evolve with community feedback.

After Keith Morris’s time in Black Flag, he and Greg Hetson launched the group with Roger Rogerson and Lucky Lehrer, shaping a concise, ferocious sound with pointed lyrics. Their debut album Group Sex packed fourteen tracks into sixteen minutes and helped define the genre, and the band went on to appear in cult favorites like Repo Man, New Wave Theatre, and The Slog Movie while releasing six studio albums including Wild in the Streets, Golden Shower of Hits, Wonderful, and IV. Morris and Hetson have remained the steady core through lineup shifts, with bassist Zander Schloss joining in the 1980s. The program marks a return to the stage for the first time in over a decade, celebrating the band’s 40th anniversary and the reissue of Group Sex.

This performance is the band's second to last show. A Midwest tribute to Van Halen will take the stage at a Twin Cities live music venue for two 90-minute sets featuring fan favorites and a few deep cuts from across the catalog, spanning both the David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar eras.

History Happy Hour brings an evening of conversation and community to the Minnesota History Center patio. MNHS Press author Meg Gorzycki shares the story behind her book, Remember the Main: The Gay Bar that Started a Movement in the Northland, highlighting how the Main Club in Superior, Wisconsin, founded in 1983 by former professor Bob Jansen, became more than a nightlife spot by offering connection, information, and care during the early years of the HIV/AIDS pandemic. The program includes a talk followed by a book signing, with opportunities to meet the author, enjoy refreshments, and chat with fellow attendees. A cash bar and a food truck will be available. Free admission and parking at the Minnesota History Center are available on Thursdays. Support for this program is provided by the Marney and Conley Brooks Fund. Cost is $15 per person.

Hold Your Lady Tight Night brings a honky tonk evening to the Hamel V with country line dance and progressive two step lessons followed by plenty of open dancing. The band features Emmy Award-winning musicians and contributors from Minnesota acts including Enemy Planes, Dream Crusher, Run Westy Run, Space Monkey Mafia, Heartless, Al Church, and Timbre Ghost. A rotating roster of Minneapolis players often joins in, so each set feels fresh. They appear at festivals, theaters, casinos, clubs, and intimate backyard parties, bringing an electrifying live experience wherever they play.

Venezuelan comedian Jesús Abelardo brings his debut solo show, Baba, to Laugh Camp Comedy Club in Saint Paul for a special engagement presented entirely in Spanish. Over more than 14 years he has built a devoted Spanish-language fan base in the U.S., has more than 1 million Instagram followers, has headlined clubs in Chicago, Atlanta, and Nashville, appeared at the New York Comedy Festival, and co-hosts the podcast 99 Porciento. He also released his debut film Los Roommates. Baba traces his relationship with his Syrian father, exploring culture, generations, and emotions with humor and warmth. Both reserved and general admission seating are available. If arriving downtown early, consider stopping by Alary's Bar for a drink or bite, with validated parking offered in the Block 19 Ramp for diners.

Guitarist Dean Magraw and tabla artist Suwal Singh bring their duo to MetroNOME, focusing on the living conversation between strings and percussion. The set unfolds with shimmering guitar colors and a wide palette of tabla tones, blending melody and groove and moving through a full range of feeling. Magraw’s career spans performing, composing, arranging, producing, and recording. His genre-crossing path includes a long-running partnership with mandolinist Peter Ostroushko, collaborations with Masahiro Nitta, Nigel Kennedy, and Nirmala Rajasekar, work with singers Bruce Henry, Ruth MacKenzie, and Claudia Schmidt, and performances with the Irish group Altan. In jazz circles he plays with Chris Bates and Jay Epstein as Red Planet, and he more recently formed BluLuna. Singh contributes widely to Minnesota’s music community, performing with SitarTabla in Eastern classical settings, MoMoSauce in Nepali music, Yeti Steady for avant-garde soundscapes, Jest in pop rock, and MajMin in world music. His collaborations span many local artists and appearances at Jazz Central Studios, Icehouse, the Janet Wallace Fine Arts Center, Berlin Jazz Club, KFAI, the Landmark Center, and the Dunsmore Jazz Room. Together, they explore, extend, and celebrate their musical language, weaving rhythms and melodies that invite deep listening and renewal.

When all four couples end up at the same resort hotel, tensions rise and chemistry reappears, leading to a funny, emotional battle of hearts and misunderstandings. Expect plenty of witty back-and-forth from this will-they-won’t-they comedy.
