At Lake Elmo Park Reserve, a prairie-focused program blends a book discussion with time on the trail. Participants will talk about Sea of Grass: The Conquest, Ruin, and Redemption of Nature on the American Prairie by Dave Hage and Josephine Marcotty, then set out with a prairie expert for a roughly one-hour hike on park trails and uneven ground. It takes place on the first Tuesday of the month, when Washington County parks offer free entry, so no vehicle permit is needed. Registration is necessary. After registering, participants will be contacted to coordinate delivery of a copy of the book to their preferred library location for checkout.
