The Arts as Divine Inspiration (Free Event)

Baha'i Information Center, 30 W Lockwood Ave, Webster Groves, MO 63119,US, 30 W Lockwood Ave, St Louis · verified Oct 11
    Free

Explore how creativity and the making of art may be connected to something greater than the material world. Consider whether inspiration points to a higher source and how the arts can teach, uplift, heal, and bring people together. Reflect on who is considered an artist and whether the capacity to create and to bring beauty and healing is something everyone shares. Examine the roots of inspiration, from the idea of being breathed into, to the vision of a first creator who imparts life. Discuss what it might mean to be made in the image of God and how nurturing our creative gifts can become a spiritual practice that supports personal growth and the well-being of society. Drawing on Bahá’í Teachings, the conversation looks at how the arts can advance both material and spiritual progress for individuals and communities. This is a facilitated, lively discussion that welcomes every perspective in pursuit of unifying truths. It is free and open to all, and donations will not be accepted. While oriented toward adult discourse, community members of all ages, backgrounds, and beliefs are welcome to contribute to elevated inquiry, consultation, and learning. Tickets are used to indicate attendance.
