The selection changes weekly and is curated by local vintage specialists, including the team behind some of Kansas City’s most talked-about Chiefs fashion moments. Alongside the flea, explore Art on Walnut, a thoughtfully selected showcase of local artists and makers presented by Art Garden KC. The experience also includes Farmers Market vendors with seasonal produce, cut flowers, bedding plants, vegetable starts, and more. Queens of Steel is a women’s pinball tournament and potluck brunch at Solid State Pinball Supply, with a focus on camaraderie and inclusive play. Women of all ages and experience levels are welcome, including cis, trans, and nonbinary players for whom womanhood is part of their identity or experience. Qualifying uses randomly paired, head-to-head, two-game matches, with each competitor picking one machine. If you clinch a game on your final ball, you may choose an enamel pin as a bounty. The top half from qualifying, rounded down to 4 or 8, advances to the finals. Finals are played in four-player groups over four games, and each player selects one machine. Tournament entry is $10, or $1 when you bring a brunch dish to share, which reduces the fee by ninety percent. The tournament entry fee is separate from general admission to Solid State Pinball Supply. This is an officially sanctioned IFPA event.

Greyhounds, lurchers, and other sighthounds gather for a global annual walk that spotlights these breeds and shows what wonderful companions they can be. The Kansas City edition, organized by KCREGAP, takes place at the Plaza Fountain in Mill Creek Park. This year’s theme is Mythical Mutts, so costumes for people and hounds are encouraged. Sighthounds of all kinds are welcome. Registration for hounds happens before the group walk. A recent outing brought together 83 hounds, surpassing an earlier total of 64.

A fundraiser raffle will support Kansas City English Bulldog Rescue, featuring a football-themed gift basket valued at more than $500 with items for both people and pets, such as a clear stadium bag, dog toys and treats, game-day accessories, jewelry, a dog necklace, beauty items, CBD products for dogs, and needlepoint-inspired toys. A community-focused full moon drum circle brings the Kansas City Drum Tribe to Loose Park for shared rhythm, mindful movement, and welcoming connection. The gathering takes place in the grassy area south of the access road behind the large Stone Pavilion and the Japanese garden southeast of the Rose Garden, with a rain plan that moves everyone under the large Stone Pavilion on the main circle drive. The emphasis is on listening, blending, and creating music together rather than individual performance, with core intentions that include deep listening, ego-free participation, respect for instruments and the group, substance-free connection, and community over performance. Participants of all experience levels are welcome to drum, dance, listen, or learn within a respectful container. To support the group sound, attendees are asked to find the pulse, keep volumes balanced, leave space for the music to breathe, follow changes, ask before playing someone else’s instrument, remove rings or watches before playing hand drums, keep high-pitched instruments gentle, leave the center open for dancers, step away for calls or side conversations, be open to feedback, and care more about the overall rhythm than personal attention. Hand drums are preferred and kit drums are not used because of volume, while other instruments such as flutes, violins, guitars, and harmonicas are welcome. Bring water, dress for the weather, and consider a comfortable seat if needed. Spectators, flow artists, and dancers are encouraged, children are welcome, and dogs may attend on a leash in keeping with park rules. The circle is hosted by Jessica Snyder and Jo Burke, who can be identified by Jessica’s short brown and purple mullet and Jo’s short blond spiky hair, and they are available to address safety or conduct concerns as they arise. Participation includes honoring the space, the hosts, fellow drummers and dancers, and the shared rhythm, and anyone creating a disruptive or unsafe environment may be asked to step away so the community can continue to drum, dance, listen, learn, and belong.
