This free shoe distribution supports students in the St. Joseph area by providing brand-new tennis shoes for the first day of school. Children in pre-K, who are at least 4 years old, through 12th grade in Andrew, Buchanan, Clinton, DeKalb, and Doniphan counties are eligible. No income verification is required and there is no need to register in advance. The initiative aims to build confidence and excitement for the school year while helping families with early back-to-school costs.

The 9th Annual St. Joseph Golf Tournament returns to St. Joseph Country Club with a 4 person scramble benefiting the Cameron Veterans Home Assistance League, supporting those who served. Team entry is $500 and includes carts, lunch, and two drink tickets for each player. Sponsorships are available at several levels. A corporate sponsorship is $600 and includes a team entry, course signage, and recognition during the opening ceremony. A scorecard sponsorship is $500 and limited in number. A hole sponsorship is $100 and can be designated in memory or in honor of someone. A cart sponsorship is $300 and also has limited availability. This workshop with artist Marylin Huskamp has been rescheduled. For $50 per person, participants learn how to turn a favorite teacup, small bowl, or other small container into a personalized pincushion. A wide range of supplies will be provided, including assorted fabrics, stuffing, trims, buttons, beads, pins, needles, and thread, allowing each project to reflect individual style. Attendees are encouraged to bring a cup, dish, or other container to serve as the base, along with any special trims, buttons, or embellishments they would like to incorporate. Clear E6000 glue in a minimum 2 ounce size is required. A limited selection of Japanese teacups will be available for purchase during class while supplies last. Only a small amount of hand sewing is involved, no prior experience is necessary, and if time permits there will be an opportunity to create decorative pins for a final touch. The session offers a relaxed, creative atmosphere and a chance to leave with a handmade keepsake.

A support group for those living with grief meets twice each month. Attend online or in person at the Cancer Care Library within Mosaic Cancer Care, with check-in in the Outpatient Infusion lobby at Door 1 near parking lot F3.

Travel Club features Karen Cannon sharing stories, facts, and photos drawn from more than 30 years of living in Alaska. Caregivers supporting someone with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, or other memory loss can connect at this Memory Cafe. Held at Ashland United Methodist Church, it offers a warm and welcoming setting to share stories, exchange practical ideas, and receive encouragement from others who understand the realities of caregiving. The focus is on building relationships and finding support when community can make a difference. This gathering is presented in collaboration with Mosaic Life Care Hospice and the Northwest Missouri Alzheimer’s Association.

Settle in for a relaxed colored pencil session with Wanda Taylor, an instructor with more than twenty years of experience. Expect clear, step by step guidance that builds artwork layer by layer while exploring composition, complementary color choices, texture, blending, and developing a personal style. Choose a guided lesson or work from your own reference images. Artists at every experience level are welcome. For materials, beginners can use a colored pencil sketchbook, while heavier paper often yields better results, such as Strathmore 400 or a smooth watercolor or mixed media sheet. Artist grade colored pencils are recommended, with options like Lyra Rembrandt, Faber-Castell, or Prismacolor Premier. A white plastic or kneaded eraser and a pencil sharpener are useful basics. Optional additions include Clairefontaine Pastelmat in various colors for a surface that handles many layers, a drafting brush or a clean makeup brush to keep pages free of crumbs, a reference image printed at the size you plan to draw, carbon transfer paper for tracing, odorless oil painting solvent with a small brush for blending, watercolor pencils, scissors, tape, and a drawing board.

Chiefs fans can enjoy a paint and sip at Eagles Lodge while supporting Children’s Miracle Network. Create a custom team themed door hanger or sign, and with every sign purchased, 10 dollars goes to CMN. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Projects are offered for both adults and kids, including KC Wolf or a tag shape for 40 dollars, round signs with themes such as Chiefs Season, Go Chiefs, or A Home Divided for 35 dollars, and a kids KC Wolf option for 20 dollars. No experience is required. Seating and design availability may be limited.

The Soda Lab will be at Narrative Home & Boutique offering handcrafted sodas in refreshing seasonal flavors, paired with a chance to shop local. This is the final opportunity to enjoy the Summer Menu before the fall lineup debuts.

The final Bike Night of 2026 features live music by The Motors, food from Vogel's Burgers, Pizza & More, and bike cleaning from Shorty's Bike Wash & Detailing to keep rides looking sharp.

Enjoy a seasonal specialty workshop centered on bisque Christmas trees. Participants will paint and personalize a 13 inch tree with an 8.5 inch base, then take the finished piece home. The tree comes with a light bulb, cord, tree lights, and a star. The cost is $75.
