This edition marks the 50th year of a Helena classic, a 9k trail race that climbs and descends Mount Helena. The course covers about 5.6 miles with roughly 1,300 feet of elevation gain and loss, including around 1.5 miles on roads and over 4 miles of singletrack. After a steady ascent, the route drops back toward the historic Last Chance Gulch area in downtown Helena, with views of the City of Helena, Prickly Pear Valley, and the Elkhorn and Big Belt Mountains. Packet pickup takes place before the start. A reduced entry fee is available for early registration. For safety and trail courtesy, dogs and strollers are not permitted.

Explore the Old Montana Prison after hours on a guided paranormal investigation led by Montana-based team Chilling Paranormal. Check in at the Visitor Center, get set up with provided equipment for the night, and feel free to bring your own gear. The experience covers the grounds and multiple buildings, including areas not normally open to the public such as the Death Tower and the upper tiers of the Cell House. Snacks and beverages are available throughout the night. Bring a flashlight, since parts of the tour take place in complete darkness when the lights are turned off. The minimum age is 15, and anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Drugs and alcohol are not permitted. Tickets are 99 dollars, with a 2.97 dollar online purchase fee that can be avoided by booking by phone with Addison at 406 846 3111 ext 4. Refunds are not available within 30 days of the event. A tour ticket also grants same day or next day admission to the Old Montana Prison and Auto Museum Complex when the purchase receipt is shown at the front desk.
