A community garden work day supports the 2026 growing season at Simple Gifts Community Garden. Spring plantings include cool weather crops such as potatoes, onions, kale, carrots, cabbage and broccoli, with raspberries and strawberries expected to begin flowering and fruiting soon. Most of the harvest is shared with local food banks, and volunteers may take home some produce on days they help in the garden. Annual family membership is $20. Regular workdays take place on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Service hours for adults and youth can be accommodated. No sign up is required, and attendance is flexible.

The league is organized by Kristine Freeman, a resident Pokémon Professor who also serves as the TCG judge and tournament organizer. All forms of Pokémon play are welcome, including the trading card game, the video game, and Pokémon GO, with primary support for the TCG. League games use a relaxed rule set that allows the Legacy format, meaning cards from any set are fine, and proxies, World Championship cards, and foreign cards are permitted as long as both players understand what the cards do. New to the TCG? Kristine offers beginner-friendly instruction and take-home resources to help you keep practicing. For younger attendees or anyone less interested in gameplay, there are coloring and activity pages that can earn stickers.

Play a Spider-Man family themed Marvel Multiverse RPG session where your goal is to escape The Collector. You can choose from 12 pre-generated characters, and professional narrators will guide the table through a “Timestream Adventure” from the Spider-Verse expansion. The ticket includes a 30-minute introduction plus a one-shot adventure that runs about 3 to 4 hours, with everything needed to get started like a condensed ruleset, tokens, and dice.

Get ready for a week of focused basketball training at the Nike Boys Basketball Camp at Dribble and Swish in Apex. Campers will work on fundamentals, shooting, and team play, with daily instruction sessions, indoor court time, and competitive 3-on-3 Cut Throat Tournaments. Camp includes a Nike basketball camp t-shirt and prizes, plus basketballs are provided for instruction. Families should plan to pack a lunch each day.

Recognized as a Local Historic Landmark, this late nineteenth-century cottage is one of the few Gothic Revival dwellings in Wake County, where the style is more commonly associated with religious buildings. Situated near the former Raleigh and Chatham Railroad, the house illustrates how architectural ideas spread from cities to rural communities and reflects the influence of housing reform and widely circulated architectural pattern books of the era. After a careful two-year restoration by the Town of Cary, ongoing stewardship helps ensure this piece of North Carolina’s architectural heritage endures.
