Reweaving the Patterns of Poetry's Mythic Feminine: A Poetry Mistressclass

    601 E 5th St, Charlotte · verified Oct 4
    See details

Ancient poetics often trace the wellspring of verse to the sacred feminine, especially to woven patterns that shape rhythm across meter, the cycles of the year, and transformative ritual. Led by poet Annie Finch, this workshop delves into those lineages and presents core techniques for reclaiming goddess-centered craft in the face of patriarchal pressures. Through myth, poetic technique, and lived experience, it introduces approaches to patterned language that highlight how echo and change can guide composition and deepen meaning. With the feminine as creative guide, the work aims to support healing and the renewal of bonds among mothers and daughters, along with a strengthened connection to one's own feminine power.

    Trampled By Turtles and more

The Amp Ballantyne, 11115 Upper Ave, Charlotte · verified Oct 9
    See details

Trampled by Turtles pairs with Futurebirds for a concert in Charlotte, NC that highlights wide-ranging American roots sounds, from high-velocity bluegrass to electrified folk and rock. Formed in Duluth, Minnesota in 2003 after frontman Dave Simonett lost his gear to theft and turned to acoustic instruments, Trampled by Turtles built a rapid-fire style that blends bluegrass instrumentation with rock intensity. The lineup grew with newcomers to the genre, including fiddler Ryan Young, bassist Tim Saxhaug, mandolinist Erik Berry, and banjo player Dave Carroll. Their crossover success has taken every release to the top spot on Billboard’s Bluegrass chart, with appearances at major festivals like Coachella, ACL Fest, and Lollapalooza. Tours alongside artists such as Shakey Graves, Zach Bryan, Wilco, Caamp, Mt. Joy, Willie Nelson, The Avett Brothers, and Lord Huron helped cultivate a dedicated following. Their album Alpenglow was produced by Jeff Tweedy, and 2025 saw the release of a cover of Bon Iver’s From Emma featuring Taylor Meier of Caamp, with additional collaborations on the way. Futurebirds bring songwriting from three frontmen — Womack, Thomas Johnson, and Carter King — channeling rock and roll, cosmic American roots, and folk into a cohesive sound. Their fifth studio album, Easy Company, showcases four songs from each songwriter and reflects the tight-knit chemistry built since the group started in 2008 at the University of Georgia. Over time, they’ve grown from campus buzz to headlining stages like The Ryman and The Fillmore, collaborating with artists including My Morning Jacket’s Carl Broemel and fostering a loyal Birdfam community. Tickets are priced from $68.01 to $129.45, with fees and sales tax included.
