    See details

Jason Adamo brings together a circle of North Carolina singer-songwriters for an in-the-round performance with two sets, four artists in each. The lineup features Jason Adamo, Rissi Palmer, Abigail Dowd, Dawn Landes, Dylan Walshe, Rob Watson, John Sierra, and Lakota John. Adamo resides in Raleigh and has also lived in New York City and Nashville, earning Gold and Platinum plaques for his songwriting on Brett Young’s debut album. Palmer’s work has been widely recognized, including a 2022 Forbes mention among 15 Black artists redefining country music and inclusion in the GRAMMY Museum’s Power of Women in Country Music exhibit. Dowd is a singer-songwriter and guitarist whose songs reflect Southern roots, lived experience, and a close connection to the natural world. Landes, based in North Carolina, has music heard on The Good Wife, House, and Gossip Girl, and her release The Liberated Woman’s Songbook explores folk songs tied to women’s activism from the 1800s through the 1970s. Walshe has performed alongside Ralph Stanley and Del McCoury, presenting original Celtic folk blues, traditional working-class songs, and distinctive reinterpretations. Watson is a singer, songwriter, drummer, and guitarist whose voice draws comparisons to Bono, Jeff Buckley, and Curtis Mayfield. Sierra cites influences ranging from C. S. Lewis and the Killers to Mumford & Sons and Puccini, guided by a belief in music’s power to heal and give meaning. Lakota John is a North Carolina based songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with Lumbee and Oglala Lakota roots, blending folk, jazz, rock, and blues into a soulful sound.

    Lettuce "Cook Tour"

Lincoln Theatre, 126 E Cabarrus St, Raleigh · verified Oct 2
    See details

Lettuce brings the Cook Tour to Lincoln Theatre in Raleigh for a night centered on Cook, an album that invites listeners to the table where funk, soul, jazz, rock, and hip hop blend into a single, richly seasoned sound. The group’s core of longtime collaborators fuels the performance: Adam Deitch on drums, Adam “Shmeeans” Smirnoff on guitar, Erick “Maverick” Coomes on bass, Ryan “Zoid” Zoidis on saxophones and synths, Eric “Benny” Bloom on trumpet, and Nigel Hall on vocals and keyboards. Released on their own Lettuce Records imprint, Cook arrives after runs with rap icon GZA of Wu-Tang Clan and reggae legend Ziggy Marley, along with the release of a live album and concert film created with the Colorado Symphony. The grooves pay respect to James Brown and the JB’s and acknowledge mentors such as Tower of Power and Maceo Parker. To mark the album’s debut, Lettuce Red Crush and Orange Crush wines were created with Aquila Cellars, and a limited-edition recipe book of pairings accompanies the vinyl and digital releases. With fresh momentum and a dedicated fan base, the band steps into a new chapter ready to savor the music together.

    Robert Lester Folsom

Motorco, 723 Rigsbee Ave, Durham · verified Oct 2
    See details

Presented by Cat’s Cradle, Robert Lester Folsom appears at Motorco Music Hall. A songwriter from Adel, Georgia, he spent the early 1970s capturing songs on a two track reel to reel in bedrooms, a barn and a motel room across the state, collaborating with musicians such as guitarist Hans VanBrackle. That fertile stretch informs Sunshine Only Sometimes: Archives Vol. 2, 1972–1975, a collection that highlights mellow folk, rural hues and bright melodic pop. His sole contemporaneous album, Music and Dreams from 1976, later resurfaced through Anthology, tracing smooth West Coast AOR alongside the Laurel Canyon singer songwriter tradition. Early pieces like Ease My Mind, Julie and Lonely Lovers reflect the range in his writing, from country tinges to gently off kilter psych. From garage band experiments and the Abacus era to fully formed studio work, the performance centers a catalog shaped by craft, collaboration and melody.

    Sub Urban w/ Golden Cats

Stanczyks Music Bar, 1007 W Main St, Durham · verified Oct 2
    See details

Presented by andmoreagain, Sub Urban brings The Bell Tolls Tour to Stanczyks in Durham with Golden Cats. Sub Urban is the creative identity of Daniel Virgil Maisonneuve, a Taiwanese American artist who writes, sings, and produces his own work, recognized for Cradles, an RIAA double platinum track. Since that breakout, he has forged a moody, high voltage strain of dark pop that fuses theatrical, macabre touches with unusual textures and ear catching hooks. Golden Cats brings an indie pop rock sound that mixes nostalgic alternative flavors with crisp pop songwriting and a playful, story led universe. In their first year they surpassed 20 million streams and neared 200,000 followers across platforms while developing their career with the artist incubator Not a Label. Vocalist Laura Dalla, known as Black Cat Girl, and drummer producer Kyle Lenski, known as Retriever Boy, create and refine every song from a bedroom studio. Before teaming up, Laura launched a solo path via a joint venture with Universal Music Group, and Kyle toured as a drummer, building an online following of more than 2 million through viral performances. Their fan community, the Kittens, connects with both the music and the characters, lore, and optimism that shape the Golden Cats world. Their name traces back to a rehearsal for another band when a child’s offhand comment about their contrasting looks sparked the Black Cat Girl and Retriever Boy personas. Tickets are on sale. Admission is $25 in advance and $30 the day of the show.
