Three influential voices of American alternative music come together for a special evening shaped by decades of songwriting, production, and collaboration. Murray Attaway first came to prominence as the singer and guitarist for Guadalcanal Diary, later releasing his solo album In Thrall on DGC in 1993 with producer Tony Berg. He has composed for independent films, placed songs in film and television, and created the satirical Dazzle Dudes podcast in 2019 about a fictional group trying to launch a glam rock band in 1970s central Georgia. His first new album in more than thirty years, Tense Music Plays, arrives in April. Don Dixon is a producer, songwriter, and musician closely tied to the early 1980s jangle rock sound. After forming Arrogance as a UNC-Chapel Hill freshman and producing the band’s independent releases, he co-produced R.E.M.'s Murmur and Reckoning with Mitch Easter, then worked with artists such as Chris Stamey, The Smithereens, Fetchin' Bones, Richard Barone, Guadalcanal Diary, Marshall Crenshaw, Tommy Keene, and James McMurtry. Peter Holsapple made his mark with the dBs alongside Chris Stamey, Gene Holder, and Will Rigby, becoming the principal singer and songwriter after Stamey’s departure. He performed as an auxiliary musician with R.E.M. and Hootie & the Blowfish, joined the Continental Drifters, and released solo albums including Out of the Way and Game Day. The dBs reunited in 2024 to support re-releases of their catalog, and his third solo album, produced by Don Dixon, was released on April 12, 2025. Together, their histories link landmark bands, albums, and recordings across jangle rock and beyond, setting the stage for an evening rich with connections and enduring music.

The spark for Carrie Welling’s latest chapter began in the quiet of savasana, the restful close of a yoga practice where a brief pause can soften anxious noise and let in a hint of peace. From that sliver of calm came Crack in the Chaos, an album that urges a search for joy in turbulent times and suggests that the struggle is part of the path. Americana pop textures blend with her singer songwriter roots and forthright, empowering lyrics, revealing a more seasoned sound that still holds her signature honesty. Listeners often compare her rich, expressive voice to the grit of Sheryl Crow, the storytelling touch of Tom Petty, and the heart of Stevie Nicks, matched by a sincere connection with fans on and off the stage. Shaped in Nashville by producer Bobby Holland and recorded at Pentavrit Studio, the record features collaborations with Brad Sample, Craig Wilson, Eric Erdman, Donny Brewer, and Eric Holljes of Delta Rae. It was lifted by a successful Kickstarter and the steady encouragement of her Patreon community, the Wellos, whose support has grown over the past four years through house concerts, open doors, and friendship. Welling reflects on the lessons of recent years, noting that both the pandemic and getting older taught her resilience and self worth. Her touring and performance highlights include runs with Delta Rae, Wyn Starks, Carbon Leaf, David Cook, and Bowen Young, appearances on the Melissa Etheridge Cruise and Sail Across the Sun with Train, shows in The Netherlands and Germany, headlining Norwegian Cruises and the Meeting of the Minds Festival, and the Songwriter Island Showcase in Isla Mujeres, Mexico.
