With guidance from Morgan of Morgan's Stained Glass, participants choose from a selection of pre-cut glass pieces, learn to apply copper foil, then solder the pieces into a light-catching design to take home. All materials are provided, and bringing your own well-fitting work gloves is welcome. This hands-on class takes place at the Unglued Craftatorium at Brewhalla. It is open to ages from middle school through adult, and each person must have their own ticket. Please be aware of workshop hazards that include sharp glass, lead and tin solder, possible skin irritants, and hot soldering irons. Protective gear is available, and use is up to each participant. If plans change, full refunds are available when requested at least 72 hours before the workshop start by emailing craftatorium@ungluedmarket.com. After that window refunds are not issued unless a wait list can be used, and registrations may be transferred to another person. Teens can explore ceramics at Plains Art Museum in a hands-on camp focused on clay, glazes, and fire. Instruction is led by Ms. Laura, a Hawley Public School teacher and Gasper's dance instructor. Registration covers all three days of camp. Viking ship builder Jay Smith of Washington State offers a free presentation in the ship gallery theater that explores the rewards and challenges of constructing the Valkyrie. He traces traditional Viking shipbuilding from selecting and harvesting trees to the moment the vessel touched the water, while also connecting the craft to Viking culture. Valkyrie grew from a promise David Knudsen made to his father, Heinrich. The ship launched in spring 2024 and now sails the Salish Sea in Washington State. Smith brings years of hands-on experience to the topic, including work on the small boat Inga used by the crew of the Hjemkomst.

Explore the fundamentals of wheel throwing in a two-hour class covering centering, lifting walls, and trimming on the pottery wheel. River Paddling Excursion: Animals and Habitats of the Red River
Explore the Red River’s wildlife and habitats on a relaxed group paddle led by Red River Zoo. Set out from Hjemkomst Landing and look for animals and the signs they leave behind while learning how the river provides food, water, and shelter. Check in and secure any needed equipment before a brief paddling basics overview, then head onto the water with guidance from an experienced leader. Pre-registration is required. Participation is limited to 20 vessels per excursion. The fee is $10 per person when bringing your own vessel or $15 per person with a rental, and rentals are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Refunds are available with notice at least two business days before the excursion. If river conditions prevent paddling, the outing will shift to a hike and backup dates are planned for the following week. Updates will be posted on the event page. Participants typically arrive with a GPS or smartphone, camping gear, and their usual geocaching tools, and they can take part for the day or make it a full weekend with nearby camping or hotel stays. The F-M GeoCommittee plans to spotlight locations that are distinctive to the area through a variety of caches and activities. The plan includes a friendly welcome meet-up with swag pickup, ample time set aside for geocaching and socializing, and a potluck supper. Attendees are asked to bring a dish to share and a non-alcoholic beverage, while plates, napkins, and plasticware will be provided. A silent auction during dinner supports the NDGCA, and contributions of door prizes or auction items are appreciated. The group walks as a unit with dogs intentionally kept apart. There are no on-leash meet and greets or chaotic interactions, only steady, coordinated movement. Participants are expected to keep dogs leashed at all times, avoid on-leash greetings, maintain space between teams, and use non-retractable leashes. Limit participation to one dog per handler. Dogs must be current on rabies, Bordetella, and distemper vaccinations. Bring a standard 4 to 6 foot leash, the training tools you normally use, and water for yourself and your dog. RiverArts is a five-night summer series from Moorhead Parks & Recreation that fills Viking Ship Park along the Red River with live music, art, food, and community fun. Look for cultural performances, hands-on artist demonstrations and activities, inflatables, yard games, a photo spot, the Imagination Playground, an interactive mural, and more. Hot dogs, brats, soda, and chips are available for purchase from the Moorhead Midday-Central Lions, and on select evenings adult beverages are offered by Fargo-Moorhead Community Theatre and Swing Barrel Brewing Co. Free admission to the Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County Museum is included during the event. Set out on a relaxed group paddle of the Red River with River Keepers, guided by a knowledgeable local who shares insights into the river’s past, its natural characteristics, everyday uses, and the wildlife that depends on it. The outing begins at Hjemkomst Landing. Participants check in, receive any needed equipment, and start with a brief overview of paddling fundamentals before heading out together. Pre-registration is required and space is limited to 20 vessels. The fee is $10 per person if you bring your own vessel or $15 per person with a rental, and rentals are available on a first come, first served basis. To receive a refund, notification is required two business days in advance. If weather postpones paddling, the backup is the following week. If the river is not an option, the plan shifts to a hike, with updates shared on the Facebook event page. This excursion is part of a season-long series with themes that include social paddles, local history, wildlife and habitats, trees along the river, mindful movement on the water, and birds, led by partners such as Midwest Outdoors, the Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County, Red River Zoo, Fargo Park District, CJM Yoga, and Audubon Great Plains.

Fargo SCHEELS hosts five premier duck and goose calling contests in partnership with the annual Hunt Fest. The lineup includes youth divisions for duck and goose callers, both open to ages 16 and under with no entry fee. Ages 16 and up can compete in a two-person goose calling contest, a meat duck calling contest, and an open goose calling contest. Entry for the 16+ categories is $40, and competitors receive a $40 SCHEELS gift card at check-in. For the two-person goose event, only one team member needs to register to secure the spot for both callers. Prizes are awarded to the winner of each individual contest. Spectating is free, and guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs to enjoy the action. Paint the Prairie
Hosted by the Fargo Park District and the United Prairie Foundation, Paint the Prairie blends outdoor art-making with a closer look at native habitats at Urban Plains Park. Artists work en plein air, the French term for creating art in the open air, drawing on Impressionist ideas to capture light, movement, and color across the prairie landscape. The format suits all experience levels, with local plant experts available to help identify grasses and wildflowers and art volunteers offering practical painting tips. Participants may bring their own supplies, and registration to purchase paint supplies is closed. Finished pieces may be displayed at the Monarch Butterfly Tagging event. This project is supported in part by a grant from the North Dakota Council on the Arts, which receives funding from the state legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts.

There are no backing tracks, only real musicianship and a hard-hitting show that blends country grit, rock power, and rap intensity. The lineup features support from Wildcard, DurtE, Jake LaCoste, and Shawn Paris. General Admission is $20 in advance or $25 the day of show and includes standing-room entry only with no reserved seating, first come first served, and no VIP access or early entry. Round-trip shuttles are available from Murphy’s Pub and Legends Sports Bar & Grill in Moorhead for a $10 wristband that covers the ride and includes $5 off any drink before the show.
