At the Keene Farmer's Market, a booth features freshly baked items, fruit preserves and applesauce, pickled vegetables and relishes, goat milk soap, and handmade crochet pieces. The market also includes live music and many other booths to explore.

Learn how to craft a basket without relying on costly Nantucket molds in a hands-on class that emphasizes simple forms, pliable materials, and time-honored weaving methods. Starting with a 4 inch wooden base, participants set the spokes using chase or twined weaving, then build the walls with flat, round, and flat oval reed while learning to guide the profile, control the shape, and choose the final height. The project concludes with a flat oval rim secured with a binder cane lashing, resulting in a sturdy, practical basket to take home.

Designed for those who have completed the Intro to Carpentry course, this Level 2 weekend builds on core skills as participants construct a take-home wood miter saw stand. The project uses 2x4 framing with a plywood top and incorporates helpful features like mobile casters and fold-down support wings. Instruction covers measuring and cutting parts such as legs, rails, tops, and supports, assembling the base frame, adding the saw platform, and finishing with mobility and hinge components for the wings. A materials fee of $100 is included in the registration cost. This class continues the Women’s Carpentry Learning Path with a practical, hands-on build.

This weekend workshop introduces women to carpentry in a supportive group environment where learning can happen at a comfortable pace. Participants get to know key tools, foundational skills, and core concepts for approaching home renovation and remodeling projects. The course provides a strong starting point for handling home repairs, taking on larger projects around the house, or considering a future in carpentry.

Eligible customers can recycle working room air conditioners and dehumidifiers at this Keene turn-in event hosted by NHSaves utility partners and receive a $50 incentive for each unit. Complete the online rebate form ahead of time to obtain a confirmation code, then bring the code and your units to event staff for verification. Rebates are mailed within 6 to 8 weeks. Participation is limited to two room air conditioners and two dehumidifiers per residential account served by an NHSaves utility partner, and commercial accounts are not eligible. Living history and hands-on presentations highlight many facets of 18th-century life. Witness skirmishes and explore artillery talks with accompanying displays. Observe silversmiths and leatherworkers at their benches, along with artisans carving powderhorns. Watch beehive oven baking and hearth cooking. Learn about spinning, sewing, and Ipswich lace, as well as basket weaving and pottery making. Discover beekeeping and cidermaking, and enjoy fife and drum music. A clothing program titled The Under of it All reveals what was worn beneath everyday attire. Doctoring practices and the workings of a Revolutionary War field hospital are explained, alongside explorations of crime, law, and punishment. Visit the colonial schoolmaster, see toys and games from the 18th century, and look in on a children’s militia activity. The British camps present soldiers of the Crown and offer a view of life on the other side of the conflict. A dramatic tactical demonstration and battle anchors the experience, capturing the smoke, sound, and confusion of the battlefield. After the fighting, the field hospital shows what happened to the wounded. History enthusiasts, families, and the simply curious will find chances to talk with reenactors, try period skills, explore both camps, listen to the music, watch the action, and ask questions.

Get the grounds ready for the Fairy House Festival with a hands-on volunteer day focused on outdoor projects that welcome visitors from near and far. Volunteers will help with Fairy Trail setup and maintenance, care for the wishing tunnel, prepare the Magic Forest Playscape, organize fairy house building supplies, and take on general grounds work, with additional tasks as needed. Individuals and groups are welcome throughout the day. Registration is optional but encouraged. Those who register receive a complimentary ticket to the Festival, and students can earn community service hours. Plan for all weather, since the work proceeds rain or shine. Sturdy footwear, long sleeves and pants, sun protection, and bug protection are recommended. Gloves and tools will be available to borrow.
