Nashua Center for the Arts, 201 Main St, Nashua · verified Jul 31
    See details

Two-time Grammy winning bassist Oteil Burbridge brings his touring project Oteil & Friends to the stage, drawing on more than three decades at the forefront of modern music. Recognized for his pivotal role in Dead & Company and as the longest-serving bassist of The Allman Brothers Band, he blends deep improvisation with songcraft shaped since his early days with Col. Bruce Hampton & the Aquarium Rescue Unit. His current creative chapter includes work with The Toy Factory Project, a tribute to guitarist Toy Caldwell, and a new collaboration with vocalist Lamar Williams Jr. titled The Offering, produced by Soulive co-founder Alan Evans and recorded at Iceland’s Flóki Studios. The music leans into melody and groove, folding Southern soul, gospel harmonies, exploratory rock, and African rooted rhythms together, often colored by his banjo. The first single, The Way We Rise, is already available through Flóki Studios, offering a glimpse of the spirit and ensemble focus he is championing.

    Noam Pikelny & Stuart Duncan

Nashua Center for the Arts, 201 Main St, Nashua · verified Aug 7
    See details

This event spotlights two leaders of American string music, banjo virtuoso Noam Pikelny and master fiddler Stuart Duncan. Pikelny, a founding member of Punch Brothers, has earned top honors including the Steve Martin Prize for Excellence in Banjo and Bluegrass and multiple International Bluegrass Music Association Banjo Player of the Year awards. His work with Punch Brothers garnered a Grammy for Best Folk Album for All Ashore. He also performs with the Grammy-nominated bluegrass group Mighty Poplar and co-hosts The Energy Curfew Music Hour, a Chris Thile and Punch Brothers musical variety podcast from Audible that has been recognized by the Webby Awards and the Signal Awards. He is an inductee of the American Banjo Museum Hall of Fame in the Five-String Performance category. Duncan began playing at seven and went on to collect four Grammys, a series of Academy of Country Music honors, and nine IBMA Fiddle Player of the Year titles. A versatile multi-instrumentalist on fiddle, banjo, guitar, and mandolin, he moves easily beyond bluegrass while remaining rooted in its tradition. Renowned for improvisation that elevates the music rather than overtaking it, he has collaborated with Plant Krauss, Diana Krall, Lyle Lovett, Béla Fleck, Steven Tyler, and Elvis Costello. The event highlights bluegrass roots alongside boundary-crossing creativity from two acclaimed instrumentalists.
