For kids ages 8 and up, this two-and-a-half hour drop-off session offers a colorful SpongeBob-themed crafting experience for $59 per participant. Creators will complete two imaginative projects, take a quick snack break, snap themed photos, and try their luck at the Violet's Crayon claw machine. Each participant builds a freestanding, SpongeBob-inspired character on a wooden base, then designs a waterless mini aquarium with bright stones, tropical greenery, and playful undersea details. The scene can stay classic and oceany, or lean into a Summerween twist with pumpkins, quirky mushrooms, and other whimsical accents. Custom Black Yankees jerseys worn during play will be auctioned to benefit the Stoutsburg Sourland African American Museum. Michele Rotunda, an associate professor of history at UCNJ Union College of Union County, NJ who holds a PhD in history from Rutgers University, is the author of A Drunkard’s Defense: Alcohol, Murder, and Medical Jurisprudence in Nineteenth-Century America. Tara Maharjan, electronic records archivist at the New Jersey State Archives, holds master’s degrees in history and library science from Simmons College with an archives concentration, and previously worked with Rutgers University’s Special Collections and University Archives where she curated the New Jersey Beer Collection, the Internet Archive, and as a cookbook librarian for America’s Test Kitchen. The program examines drinking habits, the alcohol trade, and reform efforts in early New Jersey.
