New Mexico Comic Expo fills Marriott Albuquerque with a two-day celebration of comics, pop culture, cosplay, gaming, sci-fi, fantasy, anime, and fandom. Step into a high stakes Pandemic Survival competition at Empire Board Game Library where teams of two race to contain four global outbreaks. Every table faces the same sequence of events, with the Draw and Infect decks matched across games, so strategy and teamwork take center stage instead of luck. The format features one simultaneous round, keeping the experience under two hours from start to finish. Space is limited to 12 teams. Entry is $25 per team and includes a day pass for additional gaming beyond the tournament. Arriving a bit early helps with claiming a table and getting set up. Prizes are awarded to top finishers and for standout costumes. Rankings are decided by the fewest turns needed to cure all four diseases, or by who holds out the longest if no team cures them all.

Bed By 10 offers a 30-plus club night built around the sounds of the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s. Presented by the Leopold Writing Program as the 7th Annual Leopold Lecture, this program features Joy Harjo at the KiMo Theatre. Through selections from her books and oral storytelling, she explores the relationships among people, culture, and the natural world, drawing on Indigenous traditions. Her narratives highlight how land, memory, and community interweave, encouraging reflection on a shared relationship with the Earth. Harjo is the 23rd U.S. Poet Laureate and a member of the Muscogee Nation. She has authored numerous poetry books, several plays, children’s books, two memoirs, and seven music albums. Her honors include Yale’s 2023 Bollingen Prize for American Poetry, the National Book Critics Circle Ivan Sandrof Lifetime Achievement Award, the Ruth Lily Prize from the Poetry Foundation, a Guggenheim Fellowship, and a Tulsa Artist Fellowship. She is a former chancellor of the Academy of American Poets and Chair of the Native Arts & Cultures Foundation, and she is currently the inaugural Artist in Residence for the Bob Dylan Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she lives.

Milonga Suerte Loca is a monthly tango gathering that welcomes dancers into Las Puertas to connect through dance, conversation, and atmosphere. It is known for standout sound and an iconic, uniquely styled venue. Expect a chill, flowing ronda with dancers moving to the music. The DJ is to be determined.

Santa Ana Golf Course hosts the 3rd Annual Hero’s Tee Time, a four person scramble that brings together first responders, community members, businesses and supporters for golf, friendly contests, raffle prizes, food and camaraderie in support of New Mexico firefighters and police officers. The event features on course competitions, opportunities to win prizes and a ceremony recognizing the Firefighter of the Year and Police Officer of the Year. All proceeds benefit the Local Hero’s Fund and its mission to assist New Mexico first responders in times of need.

An Albuquerque golf tournament at Arroyo Del Oso Golf Course aims to support families throughout the holiday season, especially from Thanksgiving into the New Year. The round is played as a best ball scramble, creating a team-focused day on the course.
