A friendly Book & Supper Club where participants share dishes and drinks inspired by the current selection. Cooking or finishing the book is not required, since there is always plenty to eat and the conversation ranges well beyond the page. The book choice is posted in the event discussion tab and on the website. Physical copies are available at the library’s circulation desk in regular and large print, and titles are chosen with access in mind, often available digitally and as audiobooks through Hoopla or Libby with a library card. It is a welcoming space to talk about the book and more, and a chance to try something outside your usual genres.

At Dublin Corners Farm Brewery, the Friday night house band features Emily Ashworth and Tim Bucci, with Manny commonly joining. Guest musicians often sit in as well, so the lineup can change from Friday to Friday.

At Newstead Public Library in Akron, this Dare to Repair pop-up brings community members together to troubleshoot and mend broken items alongside volunteer fixers at no cost. Now in its third consecutive year at this location, the event focuses on hands-on learning and the right to repair while helping people build practical skills, save money, and reduce waste. Repair categories include small electronics, PCs and laptops, sewing machines, clothing and textiles, lamps, vacuums, bicycles, furniture, sharpening, and power tools, plus more. Gas-powered items, cellphones, and TVs are not accepted.

Addison Johnson appears with Chris Welch for a performance of country and Americana from two artists based in Nashville who often share the stage. Johnson, originally from North Carolina, writes with a classic country storyteller’s touch, sometimes nodding to tall tales and the unknown. Welch, from Jackson, Missouri, brings a raw Americana sound and lyrics that resonate with travelers and dreamers, with a new album on the way. Together they highlight sincere songwriting and an easy rapport built through frequent collaborations.

Valley Chapel partners with Foodlink to make local food available to neighbors who have trouble accessing it. Distribution takes place on-site at the church, and there are no income eligibility requirements. Service is provided on a first come basis until supplies run out. When you arrive, check in at the Ministry Center to choose the items you need, with volunteers ready to help in sections for fruits, vegetables, pantry staples, and other goods.
