KIZZ INTEL offers Tuesday classes in urban kiz, with an introductory class followed by a Level 1 class. This month’s Level 1 content focuses on Followers Saida. Classes use a monthly learning plan, with new content and drills during the first three weeks, followed by a review in the fourth week. The program also revisits material from the preceding three months every fourth month to reinforce learning. The classes are donation-based.

A monthly Reiki share at ONE Wellness Center offers complimentary energy healings led by Reiki practitioners. Sessions take place in the upstairs Journeying Room and are provided in the order of arrival, with no advance reservations needed. Reiki has roots in Japanese healing traditions and draws from the ideas of rei, meaning universal, and ki, meaning vital life force energy that surrounds and moves through living beings. It is not a religion, and both practitioners and recipients can continue to follow their own beliefs. During a session, practitioners serve as channels for universal life force energy rather than supplying their own, encouraging its movement through the body and mind to support a healthier inner environment.

Record Archive hosts an evening of live music featuring Cupids Boomerang, a local act from Rochester. Additional information about the band, participating vendors, and special guests will be shared as the event draws nearer.

Create FLX presents a hands-on holiday sign workshop featuring Sir Gobblesworth, a three-foot wooden porch leaner you will paint and assemble from start to finish. This turkey gentleman, complete with a pilgrim hat and a plaid bow, brings a touch of autumn spirit and is a warm way to welcome the Thanksgiving season. All materials are provided and no experience is required, with step-by-step guidance throughout. The project is beginner friendly, makes a fun creative outing with friends, and results in a seasonal piece of porch décor to take home. Pricing is 45 dollars per person, or 40 dollars each when registering with a friend. Space is limited. Refund and cancellation policy: with at least 72 hours notice you may receive a refund, store credit, or a transfer to another class. With less than 72 hours notice you may receive store credit for half the event cost or a transfer to another class. Craft a whimsical melted snowman in a hands-on dry felting class sponsored by the Phelps Arts Center. This festive workshop welcomes both first-time felters and seasoned crafters, and includes everything needed to make a winter decoration you can display with pride. The fee is $35 per person and the class is for ages 16 and up. Due to construction at the Phelps Arts Center, the session will be held in the Phelps Community Center meeting room. Space is limited, and all materials are provided.

This ballet class welcomes teens and adults of all levels, with no previous experience needed. Performance opportunities are available. Participants warm up on stage before moving to the studio. Monthly registration is $40, or drop-in classes are $15, with no registration fees.

Enjoy a live music Lindy Jam featuring Annie and the Fur Trappers, a Boston-based traditional jazz and blues band dedicated to performing and preserving music from the 1920s and 1930s. The band features clarinet, trumpet, trombone, bass, banjo, guitar, and percussion. A beginner lesson is included.

The Dirty Dozen Brass Band channels the spirit of New Orleans with a high-energy blend of traditional brass band roots, bebop jazz, funk, and R&B/soul, shaping a sound that is unmistakably their own. Formed in 1977 and recognized with a GRAMMY Award, the ensemble has spent more than four decades touring across five continents, performing in over thirty countries, releasing a dozen studio albums, and collaborating with artists such as Modest Mouse, Widespread Panic, and Norah Jones. Expect a performance full of driving grooves, crisp horn interplay, and unstoppable rhythm. The lineup features Roger Lewis on baritone sax and vocals, Gregory Davis on trumpet and vocals, Kirk Joseph on sousaphone, Trevarri Huff-Boone on tenor sax and vocals, Stephen Walker on trombone and vocals, Julian Addison on drums, and Takeshi Shimmura on guitar.

The Honeoye Falls - Town of Mendon Historical Society hosts a talk by Drew Saur titled “21 Months: The Story of Our Museum’s Reinvention,” highlighting how the board reassessed policies in late 2023 and undertook a comprehensive inventory of roughly 15,000 collection items. With a renewed focus on what visitors expect to find, the effort guided decisions about relevance and shaped the direction of new exhibits. The presentation shares how 21 months of volunteer work led to the first complete exhibit overhaul in the museum’s 56-year history and the most substantial reimagining in three decades. The program begins at Mendon Community Center for approximately a half hour, then continues at the Museum at Harry Allen Park for further discussion and questions. Drew serves as Chief Information Officer for G&C Foods, is adjunct faculty in the Software Engineering Department at RIT, and founded The Progressive CIO, a blog on technology leadership. His career centers on building collaborative engineering and IT teams grounded in empathy and trust. He is president of the Historical Society and a past president of the Mendon Foundation, a not-for-profit land trust that developed and maintains the Lehigh Valley Trail throughout Monroe County under contract with the Monroe County Parks Department. The venue is accessible, and the meeting is open to the public.

Aza Nedhari, DHS, CPM, LPC, will deliver a keynote exploring collective care as a clinical and public health intervention rooted in disability justice and Black feminist traditions. The presentation will use Mamatoto Village’s 13-year record of zero maternal deaths as a case study. The program will also include a panel of local experts representing services and supports for mothers and families. Nedhari is president, CEO, and co-founder of Mamatoto Village, a perinatal health organization based in Washington, DC, and has more than two decades of experience in community health, perinatal wellness, and program innovation.

Strickley Acoustic, featuring Tom “T-Bone” Farley and Jim Strickland, brings live music to the Naples Hotel Taproom for Feel Good Friday. Experience the vibrant rhythms of Guinea, West Africa through drum and dance classes with performer and teacher Mohamed Diaby. Beginners are welcome. Choose a drum class, a dance class, or both, with an option to stay for the dance class after drumming for an additional fee. Diaby began playing jembe as a child, performed and toured across West Africa, and has taught drum and dance in the United States, Canada, and Europe while promoting Guinea’s music and culture.

The annual LIGHT[the]HILL luminaria celebration transforms Kershaw Park in Canandaigua with candles glowing inside personalized bags, each one dedicated in memory or in honor of a loved one. Last year, nearly 2,500 luminarias illuminated the park, creating a quiet atmosphere of remembrance and hope. Individual luminarias are available for purchase at $12, with discounted bundles of 12 or 24, and Light Hill volunteers will create, personalize, place, and light each dedication. Advance orders are due by a specified deadline, and onsite purchases are available if that window is missed. The event aligns with National Hospice and Palliative Care Month, and community support through spreading the word or purchasing luminarias helps light the way for a mission of caring for others at a profound time in life. Volunteers are needed for setup and takedown, including organizing names, pulling carts, placing luminarias, lighting candles, and reorganizing materials afterward. The evening encourages quiet reflection, remembrance, and an unhurried stroll among the lights.

This performance spotlights Peter Karp, a widely respected voice in Americana and blues-rooted music. Expect storytelling songs shaped by real-life experiences, delivered with a commanding vocal presence, fiery guitar work, and driving piano as blues, folk, Americana, and rock and roll come together in one dynamic set. Raised in Leonia, New Jersey, he crossed the Hudson as a child to witness 1960s icons from the British Invasion to Motown. Later years in rural Enterprise, Alabama tuned his ear to foundational blues by Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Elmore James, and Howlin' Wolf, influences that continue to inform his writing and stagecraft. He first made his mark in the early 1980s with They Came From Houses on New York’s underground circuit at CBGBs, Folk City, and the Mudd Club, sharing stages with Marshall Crenshaw, Mink DeVille, the Stray Cats, John Hammond Jr., George Thorogood, and David Johansen. After stepping back from a record deal to focus on family, he directed films, wrote jingles, and honed his craft with insight from artists including Willie Dixon, Robert Lockwood Jr., Jonnie Johnson, Sammy Cahn, Bruce Springsteen, Van Walls, Richie Havens, and Jackson Browne. He also deepened his connection to African American culture and the music of the Sea Islands, performing at The Gullah Festival in Beaufort, South Carolina, before returning full time to the stage in the 1990s. An early independent release drew the attention of Mick Taylor of The Rolling Stones, who contributed to The Turning Point and toured with him. National recognition followed with Shadows and Cracks reaching Billboard’s Top 5 on Blind Pig Records, along with a 2010 collaboration with Sue Foley that also landed in the Top Five. Beyond the Crossroads was later named the top CD of 2012 by Alternate Roots Magazine. The Arson’s Match, recorded with Taylor at New York’s Bottom Line, earned three Blues Blast nominations and donated its proceeds to a charity honoring his late wife. Subsequent releases on his own label include Alabama Town, The Blue Flame, and Magnificent Heart, and he has been awarded a master’s degree in composition by the Vermont College of Fine Arts.

White Woods returns to the Naples Hotel for a basement show in the Pour Decisions speakeasy. Trent Yule and Delaney West kick things off with brief sets, followed by a full set from White Woods. A significant share of every dollar raised goes directly to his family through Jackson's Mafia Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) that fights childhood cancer and supports local families. Registration includes food and drinks as well as access to raffles and auctions, and cash prizes are awarded across all competitive divisions.
