An overnight paranormal investigation at The Haunted Shanley Hotel, organized by Paranormal Cares, explores the property’s long history and reported activity while supporting the charity Because Life Happened. The evening begins with an introduction to the team and a brief history tour, followed by guidance on how to use the investigative equipment. The team will also feature a doll said to be haunted that includes built-in REM pods, along with a Ouija board outfitted with REM pods for yes or no responses. Throughout the investigation, guests can partner with a team member to try different experiments or explore on their own. The Shanley’s story includes accounts of family loss, a tragic drowning at the property’s well, and long-standing rumors of murder and suicide, which many believe contribute to the reports of whistling, footsteps, piano music, children’s laughter, unexplained clock chimes, shadow figures, apparitions, and the uneasy sensation of being watched.

Celebrate the release of Wild Wild Wisdom by Christina Starobin in the Woodstock Shivastan Bookshop secret garden. Poet Shiv Mirabito will host, with a vegetarian potluck, a relaxed open mic sharing circle, and a bonfire at sunset. Attendees are welcome to bring snacks, beverages, and poems or spoken word to share. Entry is donation based. Christina Starobin, a New York City native, earned early recognition by winning first place in poetry in the National Senior Scholastic Writing Awards while at Great Neck North Senior High School. She graduated cum laude from Harvard, spent a brief period in Los Angeles, then returned to New York, worked in a variety of office roles, completed a master’s degree at Columbia University, and later received a Ph.D. in English from NYU.

Kirke’s path to Nashville follows years of trusting her instincts. She released the 80s country inspired Lady For Sale on Jack White’s Third Man Records, then teamed with Elle King on the Country Curious EP that featured harmonies from First Aid Kit and earned praise for mixing laughter with heart. She has sold out storied rooms including the Bowery Ballroom and the Troubadour, appeared on CBS Saturday Morning’s Saturday Sessions, made her Stagecoach debut, and stepped onto the Opry stage in a dress once worn by June Carter and loaned by Rosanne Cash. Offstage, she is the author of the memoir in essays Wild West Village, and her background spans London and New York City, with family ties to Simon Kirke of Free and Bad Company.
