At Friends of the Chemung River Watershed, Inc., this hands-on upcycling workshop invites participants to create a mixed media paper collage guided by Executive Director Cait McConnell. The focus is on building community, learning a fresh crafting technique, and giving new life to materials that might otherwise head to the landfill or the Chemung River. Expect a creative, mess-friendly experience using items like paper, magazine pages, cardboard, bubble wrap, beads, paint, yarn, and ribbon, with plenty of room to experiment. Participants are encouraged to bring any odds and ends from their own craft stash to incorporate. Registration is free and required so organizers can prepare enough stations and supplies, and donations are welcomed. Light snacks, drinks, and all essential materials will be available, making it easy to dive into upcycled art during Earth Month.
