Meet & Greet with author Irvina Lew

Meet local author Irvina Lew for a casual conversation about her newly launched Forays in France: A Flavorful Memoir. Copies of the book will be available for purchase, and she will sign them. Admission is free. The memoir is a culinary travelogue inspired when a planned Riviera apartment stay was canceled due to COVID in March 2020, sparking six decades of memories from journeys that began in 1958 as a Sorbonne student and continued through 2025 as an older student. Readers explore Paris, the Riviera, and renowned wine regions through vignettes that trace travel by barge, cruise ships, a riverboat, rental car, and train, along with stays at two to five star hotels and meals ranging from market snacks and cafes to Michelin starred restaurants. Favorite recipes, lesser known insights, and practical travel tips round out the experience. Lew is an award winning travel writer and longtime contributor to guidebooks, magazines, and websites, who lives in Bay Shore, taught French and Spanish in Bay Shore and Brentwood, and served as a national spokesperson for Ziploc storage bags and Contadina Pasta Ready.
