The Listening Field: A hOm Sound Journey

Columbus · Prototype, 522 Maier Pl

Step into a fully immersive sound journey with more than fifteen points of audio and 150 feet of surrounding visuals, presented in collaboration with Prototype, an experimental museum in Columbus. hOm’s sound bath concert series returns with live musicians and sound practitioners who move throughout the theater so each experience feels uniquely alive. The Listening Field awaits. Instruments seem to circle the body, voices rise from every direction, birds lift overhead, and ocean waves ripple through the room while you rest in the listening field. The evening begins with time to browse local makers, creators, and small businesses, then continues into Prototype’s dreamlike Love Hug exhibit accompanied by a tapestry of love songs and ambient textures composed by hOm founder Jesse Cale. The centerpiece follows in The Listening Field, where you choose your spot, settle in, and let your imagination travel. An open period rounds things out, offering time to linger in the field, revisit vendors, return to Love Hug, enjoy a beverage, and connect with others. Choose how you take part. Stretch out on the floor of the listening field for full immersion and comfort by bringing a yoga mat, blanket, and pillow. Select a booth for up to four if you would rather sit, sip a drink, write, or draw while taking in the high resolution visual walls. Back row seating offers an elevated view of the complete audiovisual environment. Consider bringing something comfortable to lie on, along with a blanket and pillow. A pen and journal are also recommended. A sound bath is a full body listening experience that encourages relaxation, restoration, a mental and energetic reset, and inward exploration. Here it blends singing bowls, live musicians and singers, and surround sound environmental and ambient textures at the intersection of traditional sound healing, modern sound therapy, and immersive performance. This event is ADA accessible.
