The Hilliard Arts Council is holding open-call auditions for its annual production of Dickens’s classic holiday story, A Christmas Carol. The tale follows Ebenezer Scrooge as visits from the ghost of his former business partner and the spirits of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come lead him toward a kinder way of life. The production offers opportunities for experienced and novice performers across generations in a family-friendly setting. Adults and children in first grade and above may audition for 30 speaking roles, including Bob Cratchit and his family, ghosts, and townspeople. Scrooge has already been cast. Children can also take part in a chorus singing carols during the show. No audition-time sign-up is required. Auditions are open regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation, disability, or age. Casting decisions use an identity-conscious approach, with female-presenting and male-presenting actors considered for roles according to how the characters are written.

Before the ceremony, the community is welcome to take part in a flag refresh at Powell Cemetery, led by the Powell Veterans Committee, to ensure the flags honoring local veterans are standing tall and pristine. Following the ceremony, veterans are welcome to a free luncheon in the East Room of City Hall.

This film series explores housing instability through stories on screen and conversations about emergency, transitional, and supportive housing programs in the county. Each screening features a community subject matter expert and a call to action focused on supporting safe, affordable housing for people at every income level. The featured films are The Soloist, One of Them Days, It Happened on 5th Avenue, and Dark Days. The first 50 attendees at each screening receive a complimentary ticket.
