American Legion Post 668 in Vandalia hosts an evening of food and live music with the acoustic duo His and Hers. Expect sing along favorites alongside lesser known tracks from a range of well known artists.

Hosted by the Trans Am Club of America, Dayton chapter, the Trans Am Nationals celebrates Pontiac Firebirds from 1967 through 2002. Eligible models span the full lineup, including Sprint, H.O., Esprit, Formula, Trans Am, S/E, GTA, Comp T/A, Fire Am and Firehawk. Across the weekend, look for show and shine displays, concours judging, a tech inspection line, a swap meet and vendor area, seminars, a Tipp City cruise-in, karaoke and Mini-Nats activities. Awards are presented in every class along with Best of Show and other special honors, with categories that range from driver and work in progress builds to concours entries. A 50/50 drawing plus live and silent auctions are planned, with proceeds benefiting A Special Wish Foundation, Inc. Dash plaques are set aside for the first 450 registered vehicles, and spectators can attend at no charge. Vehicle owners are asked to park within their assigned classes throughout the event. Pre-entry options are available at $67 or $69 and include a T-shirt and hat pin depending on shirt size, while on-site registration is offered for $67 without a shirt. Vendor and swap spaces are available for $75 each and are approximately 17 feet by 27 feet. An unofficial Test and Tune at Kil-Kare Speedway is also listed in the lead-up. On arrival, scan the QR code to choose a rental length, complete payment, and sign a waiver; cash and tap-to-pay are also accepted. Participants must be at least 10 years old, minors need an accompanying adult and a signed waiver, and the weight limit is 300 pounds. Restrooms are available in the park near the Canteen. Assistance is provided for getting in and out of the water, and beginners receive basic instruction before launching. The fleet includes 18 single sit-in kayaks and 2 double sit-on kayaks. Small-batch jellies and jams made with foraged blossoms and homegrown ingredients rotate through the season, with uncommon flavors such as dandelion, wild violet, hibiscus, rose, tomato, and onion. Cozy additions include fruit butters and seasonal spreads like salted caramel pear, along with fresh gluten-free baked goods that tend to sell out fast. Beyond the pantry, the market features farm-inspired gifts and handmade items, including natural luffa soaps, firestarters, garden-themed pieces, and other seasonal creations that bring a bit of farm charm home. During market hours, visitors can visit and feed the resident goats, take photos, and enjoy a little farm time while shopping. At Needle, Ink and Thread, a modern sewing studio, kids and teens can dive into machine sewing in a beginner friendly class with no prerequisites. Enrollment is limited to six students to keep instruction personal and focused. Participants learn how to set up, thread, and operate a sewing machine, including cleaning and maintenance, choosing needles, winding and inserting a bobbin, using common feet and accessories, understanding seam allowances, basic sewing terms, and simple troubleshooting. The session also covers what to include in a starter sewing kit. Please bring a notebook, your machine if you have one along with its manual, thread and an empty bobbin, scissors, and a basic kit with pins and extra needles. Scrap fabric for practice, a 101 handout, and practice sheets are provided, and a machine can be borrowed when requested during registration. Remember to print any provided downloads and bring them to class. Private lessons are available if one on one instruction is preferred.

You will also learn basic sewing terms and what to include in a simple starter kit. The class is open to ages 13 and up, and enrollment is limited to five participants for focused guidance. Bring a notebook, thread, an empty bobbin if you will use your own machine, scissors, manuals for your model, and basic notions such as pins and extra needles. A personal machine is welcome, and the Brother CS6000i is suggested for those considering a purchase. Scissors like the KAI N5230 9 inch bent handle are recommended. Season 4 of First Fil-Am Church Got Talent brings an uplifting showcase of performances paired with a shared meal, fellowship, and community, all centered on using creative gifts for God’s glory and supporting a worthy cause. Everyone is welcome. Each ticket includes a meal, with prices of $20 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. The audition includes a brief meeting with artistic director Kathy Clark and a series of vocal exercises to assess voice quality, range, and overall aptitude. The upcoming season features the holiday program "Peace is the Word" and the Pride concert "I Want My DGMC: A Tribute to the Music Video Generation." Parking is available in the lot across from the church without paying the posted QR code, and interested singers are asked to register for an audition on the chorus website.

Gem City Pinball League meets on Mondays at Canal Street Arcade and Deli for weekly group play that leads into a two-night finals. The cost to join is $20 once per session, plus the usual coin drop each week. Players are placed in groups of three or four, play four random games, and earn points based on how they finish. The season features eight weeks of regular play, then players compete in either A finals or B finals based on overall standings, with everyone qualifying for one of the two. Finals formats and rules may adjust based on league needs and the number of participants. Attendance is important for smooth weekly play. There are no makeup weeks, and each player gets one drop so the lowest weekly score does not count. Missing three weeks in a season removes a player from that season’s rankings and finals eligibility, though players may continue to participate for the remainder of the season and can return in a future season if spots are available. In special circumstances, exceptions may be considered at the discretion of league operators when notified as soon as possible with valid reasons. Players are asked to check in each Monday to confirm their attendance status. A respectful environment is required. Disrespectful behavior is not tolerated and can result in removal. Final rulings by league directors are not open to debate, and failing to follow the rules can lead to disqualification or removal. Because pinball machines can experience mechanical issues that sometimes require a restart or shutdown, rulings around these situations are part of play. The focus is a fair, friendly atmosphere where everyone treats one another with kindness.

Ohio’s Hospice Pathways of Hope Grief Counseling Center offers a twice-monthly support group for adults who have lost a loved one within the past five years. Participants gather to share experiences and connect with others who are grieving. Discussions cover a range of topics that shift with the season and the needs of the group. Try mountain biking for free at the MetroParks Mountain Biking Area (MoMBA). Borrow a bike to ride a loop or two on the trails, with loans handled in the order people arrive. Helmets are mandatory, and one is provided with each bike. Anyone under 18 must have a parent or guardian present. Plans may change depending on the weather.

Presented by Immortal Tree Qigong, this hour-long Tai Chi and Qigong session begins with mindful breathing, a gentle warmup, and easy movements to wake up the body. Participants are then guided through flowing sequences drawn from the Tai Chi 24 form, interspersed with brief standing meditations. The practice concludes with a longer guided meditation that can be done standing or seated, followed by a short window to ask questions or share insights. No prior experience is needed, and no special equipment is required beyond your own body and your breath.

In the years after the Civil War, Dayton shifted from a center of manufacturing to a hub of innovation, and by the turn of the century it led the nation in patents per person. This guided walk through Woodland Cemetery explores that history by visiting the gravesites of inventors who are buried there. The group meets at Eichelberger Plaza by the main gates of the cemetery. Parking is available both inside and outside the gates. Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a water bottle if needed. Tours run in all weather except when thunder or lightning is present. Reservations are required, and a $5 donation is suggested. Contributions support the Woodland Arboretum Foundation and its restoration, preservation, horticultural and educational work that helps keep Woodland a cultural resource for Dayton and Ohio.
