The Midwest Afghan Hound Club is hosting an Afghan Hound regional specialty event at Lorain County Kennel Club Park. The regular judge is Dean D'Aquila.

A member of the LHS staff shares stories from Lorain’s early history, points out local wildlife, and highlights the industries that shaped the community along with current revitalization efforts. The excursion lasts about two hours and departs from Port Lorain. On-site parking is available. Tickets are required in advance and are $25 per person.

Catch the Lorain County Kennel Club, Inc. conformation and specialty show, featuring purebred Labrador Retrievers competing for top honors. Expect breed-standard judging, a big focus on proper dog care and show etiquette, and plenty of opportunities for breeders, handlers, and Labrador fans to connect. Attendees are welcome, with guidance to keep dogs on short leashes or crated when not competing and to bring what you need for comfort like grooming supplies, shade, chairs, and fresh water for your dogs.

Families can browse, shop, and enjoy lunch while taking in the festivities. The recurring Second Saturdays event is presented by Achieve Credit Union.

A time-traveling kid named Wilbur Robinson arrives and whisks him into the future in a time machine. Together they meet Wilbur’s eccentric family and uncover a surprising secret.

Oakwood Park in Lorain, Ohio brings the community together every Sunday for an evening with music, food, and family-friendly fun. All types of vehicles are welcome, including show cars, daily drivers, classics, muscle cars, trucks, motorcycles, Jeeps, and custom builds. To keep the gathering enjoyable for everyone, dirt bikes, ATVs and 4-wheelers, electric scooters, and electric bikes are not permitted, and excessively loud music is discouraged. Settle in at Miller Road Park for a summer concert featuring Cuyahoga Slim, a Cleveland-based trio that blends country, rock, and blues. Expect a mix of soulful favorites and energetic originals that encourage plenty of foot tapping and sing-alongs. Food options include hearty fare from Hofbrahaus, along with cool, sweet treats from Koojay’s Lemon Co. Attendees are welcome to bring a blanket or lawn chairs and enjoy live music in the open air.

Features include hands-on crafts, games, food, and colorful face painting, plus appearances from special guests. It is free for children and families who have been affected by a loved one's substance addiction.

Designed for children ages 5 and up, this weeklong art camp wraps up summer with a focus on creative exploration. Campers revisit favorite materials, techniques, and projects from the season while enjoying an upbeat, memory-making experience. Each day features one major project, with additional time for smaller creations, snack breaks, games, dancing, stretching, and clean-up. Sample activities include mixed media art, an ice cream themed session, sculpting, painting, and plenty of fun games. Activities may change if supplies are limited, and any preview content is inspirational rather than a guarantee of the final project. Tuition is $250 per child for the week and includes an art shirt, a water bottle, daily care, all necessary supplies, and a daily snack. A non-refundable $50 deposit is required at registration to reserve a spot. Registration changes are accepted through May 1, allowing a move to a different camp week or a cancellation with the deposit applied to another project, event, or workshop at the studio. Remaining balances are due by May 1, with invoices emailed for convenient online payment. Registrations made from May through August require payment in full.

AECPTA hosts a family picnic and membership drive at Schwartz Park, creating a welcoming setting for families to meet one another, learn about the PTA, and explore ways to get involved while enjoying dinner provided by the organization. The group will gather near the playground so children can play while adults connect and hear about plans for the year ahead. Kids can enjoy a face painter, bubbles, sidewalk chalk, sensory bins, and music. Families that complete AECPTA membership registration before the event concludes will be entered into a raffle for a special gift basket. Membership information will be available on site, dues are $30, and payment is accepted through Cheddar Up or in person by cash or check.

Plumtree Design Studio presents a wizarding world evening featuring a Harry Potter themed trivia challenge and an opportunity to create a magical inspired art project made especially for this event. Attendees can test their knowledge, enjoy wizard inspired mocktails, and sample butterbeer themed snacks and treats. Trivia prizes will be available, and costumes or wizard attire are encouraged. The event is open to ages 8 and up. Pre-registration is required and the cost is $10. Space is limited. An exclusive art project is available as an optional add on for an additional price. Fans from every Hogwarts house are welcome. Mischief managed.

A relaxed playground meetup at Eagle Point Park brings families together while kids of all ages play and explore, giving parents time to connect and enjoy the outdoors. The gathering is free and open to the community, with opportunities to learn more about AECPTA.

This weekly series brings together adoptable pets and local food trucks with a focus on expanding the foster program and helping animals find loving homes. Attendees can meet animals currently living in foster care, learn about their behavior in a home environment, and in some cases complete an adoption that day. Those interested in fostering can speak with a foster coordinator about how fostering saves lives, with simple sign-ups available to get approved quickly. Alongside the animal meet and greets, guests can enjoy food and treats from food trucks that support the shelter’s mission. Whether the goal is to foster, adopt, volunteer, or simply show support, this event offers a friendly way to make a difference throughout the summer. Weekly updates will highlight which animals will be on site and which food trucks will participate.
