Set within Haunted Bihl Manor, this experience combines a hands-on ghost hunting development course with a participant-led investigation. Before the search for evidence begins, an experienced team provides a professional workshop to build practical skills, then participants put those tools to work by guiding the hunt themselves. Training focuses on creating a strong spiritual foundation through grounding, protection, and cleansing practices to stay safe in high-activity settings. It also develops intuitive awareness so participants can sense possible activity before instruments respond. Instruction covers how to plan and carry out a thorough, respectful investigation, along with time to practice using equipment such as EMF meters, EVP recorders, and spirit boxes. The session closes with methods for reviewing evidence, ruling out natural explanations, and analyzing findings. The manor’s story reaches back to 1890, when it was built as the home of Jerome Bihl and his wife. In the 1920s it passed to Clarence and Daisy Wolfe, with Clarence’s death occurring inside the house in the 1940s and Daisy’s in her bedroom in the 1960s. Later, the property became a children’s group home for three decades, a period marked by hardship. After it closed in the 1990s, ownership changed frequently, with reports of unexplained activity. Today, the site is regarded as one of Ohio’s most active locations for reported paranormal phenomena. Accounts include a dark, human-shaped figure seen in the upstairs hallway and parlor, phantom footsteps and faint whispers in the basement and along the steep wooden stairs, and rhythmic tapping that recalls its time as a care facility. Visitors also describe sudden drops in temperature, a strong feeling of being watched, unseen touches, and energy surges that drain equipment batteries in minutes. The 10th annual rivalry-themed run turns downtown Sandusky into a course that traces letter formations tied to the Ohio State and Michigan traditions, centered on Monroe Street near Cameo Pizza and Central Park. Options include the Dot the i route at approximately 5 miles, the Block the M route at approximately 4 miles, and the Big O one-mile walk to complete just the O in Ohio. The OH-IO two-person relay is also available, with each teammate covering about 2.5 miles. Ohio State supporters start at Cameo Pizza to follow sidewalks and outline Script Ohio, finishing by dotting the i, while Michigan supporters start and finish at Cameo Pizza to sketch the Block M. All participants are asked to stay on sidewalks and follow traffic laws. Registration is open, and pre-registration is $35. Those who register by the stated deadline receive long-sleeved hooded shirts, with limited quantities available after the cutoff. Proceeds support Sandusky Rec’s free youth programming throughout the year. Packet pickup will be offered the day of the event, with night-before details to be announced.

An open house invites visitors to explore the first floor of the Hayes Home, which is lightly decorated in a historically accurate style, and staff will be available to answer questions. A short, illuminated walk through the grounds is part of the experience, and carolers will be heard around the property. Admission, including the Hayes Home open house, is free. Guests can also enjoy the “Hayes Train Special” model train display and visit the museum. This program is part of A Presidential Christmas at Hayes Presidential, with partial funding provided by Wright Leather Works.
