Free events in Shaker Heights, OH

Shaker Art Circle brings together creatives to draw, sketch, and paint at various locations around Shaker Heights. This friendly gathering welcomes artists at any skill level, from curious beginners to long-time professionals. Meetings take place twice each month on the first and third Tuesday. Participation is free and limited to adults 18 years and older.

Now in its 12th season, this free yoga series brings Cleveland area studios together on the lakefront at Voinovich Park. Classes offer traditional, multi-level practice that welcomes all ages. Free parking is available for participants in Dock Lots 30 and 32, and a dashboard credential that becomes available after registration must be displayed. This series is part of Downtown Cleveland, Inc.'s Summer Series.

Back at Cain Park, The Cleveland Orchestra presents a free community performance led by conductor Anthony Parnther. The program charts a sweeping journey through music rooted in cultural storytelling and tradition, opening with Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man, Gabriela Ortiz's Kauyumari, and The Mestizo Waltz from Three Latin American Dances by Gabriela Lena Frank. The lineup continues with Dvořák's Slavonic Dance No. 1 and George Walker's Lyric for Strings, then explores American history and identity through Carlos Simon's Hellfighters' Blues and William L. Dawson's O Le' Me Shine, Shine Like a Morning Star! from Negro Folk Symphony. The concert closes with Adventures on Earth from E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial by John Williams.

The North Union Farmers Market fills the Van Aken District with fresh produce, local vendors, and live music. Visitors can find farm-fresh fruits and vegetables, artisanal breads and baked goods, and local cheeses, meats, and more from Northeast Ohio farmers, makers, and bakers. The market offers a family-friendly atmosphere and takes place around the turf, celebrating small businesses and local food.

Fitness in the Village is a new series at Legacy that offers free fitness classes on The Lawn. Sessions feature rotating partners such as Flow Yoga, barre3, and Groove Ryde’s Bodyweight Bootcamp, giving participants a chance to explore different workout styles.

Families can access a free children's closet to pick up needed items for their kids. It is open on the first Friday, the second Saturday, and the third Friday of each month. Questions are welcome by phone or direct message.

Enjoy a free Stage on Stage concert at Cain Park, arranged so the audience sits right on the stage for an up-close view of the music. Rent For Cheryl, a five-piece original band rooted in Akron, Cleveland, and Kent, delivers a blend of jazz, blues, and indie pop rock. Seating is general admission, and the band extends appreciation to everyone who supports their music.

The North Union Farmers Market returns to Legacy Village for the summer season, setting up on Sundays in the parking area next to The Capital Grille.

Put your knowledge to the test at the Happy Dog during one of Cleveland’s most highly rated trivia nights. A rotating crew of hosts keeps things lively and the event takes place most Mondays. Participation is free.
