    Fast Laps 12

Troy Mountain Bike Area, Troy · verified Sep 6
    See details

MVMBA’s free FAST LAPS training ride returns to Troy Mountain Bike Area, with the format shaped by weather and trail conditions. Participation now requires a current MVMBA membership along with a completed series registration and activity waiver before signing up for this specific activity, and the same email must be used for all registrations. New this year, one-time series registration covers the season, and riders receive permanent bibs with RFID timing at no cost. Replacements are $5, and an optional in-person bib number selection is available first come, first served for $5 at FAST LAPS activities. Helmets are required, and riders should bring their assigned number plate for check-in. Limited on-site registration may be possible but can be difficult to process due to limited connectivity and staffing, so advance registration is strongly encouraged. Participants under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign the release. Expect a taped course with a start that may be self-seeded, wave-by-category, or time trial, and there may be a short double-track prologue. Lap counts will adapt to trail conditions, with a full course for Advanced or Expert, Fatbike, Masters 50+, Grand Masters 60+, Sport, Tandem, High School, and Recreational riders, plus shorter options for Beginners and Novices, Juniors under 14, and a short-course recreational group. Very short routes are planned for kids and for strider or balance bikes, and a prologue-only option is available for young or no-pedal riders. Riders are asked to call out their bib number at the lap line to assist timing. Courtesy is expected at all times, and the organizing committee may reclassify riders to keep groups safe and fair. Weather or course issues may shift the schedule, with a rain date planned the following week after any cancellation. Volunteers are needed for timing, check-in, setup, course marshalling, sweeping, results, awards, teardown, and packing up, and donations help support MVMBA programs. The aim is simple, to build skills and community while keeping the experience fun for every level of rider.
