The inaugural Bonfire Rucking Challenge brings movement, endurance, community, and time outdoors together at Lake Thunderbird. Taking place in the Clear Bay Recreational Area at Lake Thunderbird State Park, participants will cover the trail system with a weighted ruck pack and experience Oklahoma’s natural landscape from a fresh perspective. It welcomes seasoned endurance athletes, hikers, military veterans, first responders, and anyone seeking a challenge while building connections. Participants can choose between the Founders Challenge and Standard Rucking Divisions. Expect a scenic course, a bonfire gathering area, sponsor and vendor booths, and music that adds to a welcoming community feel. Finishers receive patches and gear. The standard dry weight is 25 pounds, with water not counted in that total, and staying hydrated is strongly encouraged. Hosted by CouragEndures and Good Earth Provisions. A Gumbo Cook Off from the Norman Mardi Gras Society brings Mardi Gras flavor to The Depot. Guests can taste gumbo prepared by local cooks while helping support the 2027 Norman Mardi Gras Parade. Celebrate ACOTAR 6 with a post release gathering centered on magic, conversation, and community two weeks after the book’s debut. For the range portion, plan to have a pistol and 50 rounds of factory ammunition; you may bring your own handgun, borrow one, or use a rental, and ammunition is available for purchase if needed. Safety glasses and hearing protection are required, with complimentary equipment provided if you do not have your own. The material is also useful for those considering medication, offering strategies for navigating early labor before interventions are an option. The class includes instruction in breathing, touch-based comfort measures like hip squeezes, counter pressure and massage, and effective positioning for different phases and variations of labor. Participants also explore tools such as a rebozo, a birth ball, hydrotherapy and TENS units. Additional topics include how to weigh benefits and risks to make clear decisions, mental techniques for relaxation, approaches to pursuing a natural birth in a hospital, and methods for communicating positively with medical staff. Attendees often describe leaving feeling prepared and supported, and partners find the experience valuable as well. The fee is $100 per couple. Comfortable clothing is recommended, and bringing a pillow or yoga mat is encouraged if available.

JediOKC’s Saturday meeting at Johnnie’s Charcoal Broiler follows a rotating discussion theme inspired by the Star Wars saga.
