Centered on Garcia’s work beyond the Grateful Dead, the show blends soul, blues, reggae, Motown, gospel, and psychedelic rock, inviting a warm, communal connection between musicians and crowd. Formed in 2015 by Garrett Deloian, Rodney Newman, Son Vo, Jon Gold, Halina Janusz, and Lisa Malsberger, the group grew from early Los Angeles club dates to acclaimed rooms like Great American Music Hall, the Troubadour, The Ardmore, and Garcia’s at the Capitol Theatre. Setlists change from night to night, spanning favorites such as Deal and Cats Under the Stars alongside deeper selections from projects like Legions of Mary and collaborations with Merl Saunders, with songs like Midnight Moonlight explored in different era-inspired arrangements. Deloian channels Garcia’s mix of melody and improvisation on vocals and guitar, while Gold’s keyboards reflect shades of Melvin Seals, Keith Godchaux, and Nicky Hopkins.
