This session is available in person at the library or online through Zoom, and centers on methods and guidance for tracing German family history as well as helping Germans reconnect with relatives who emigrated. Some meetings begin with a presentation, then move into open questions and peer support. The group is led by Jon Wolfe, an American living in Germany. First-time attendees are asked to register, and an email with access details and the Zoom link will be sent to those who sign up. Returning participants do not need to register again. Registration closes the day before each meeting.

The environment is relaxed and supportive, with plenty of one-on-one attention. Participants are encouraged to bring multiple paintings at different stages of progress, and artists at every skill level are welcome. The goal is to blend clear, objective instruction with thoughtful, subjective insights drawn from Richard’s decades as a professional artist. Richard McKinley is a Master Pastelist with the Pastel Society of America and a member of the Salmagundi Club in New York City, where he has exhibited in the American Masters Exhibition. His work appears in national galleries and in the collections of the Butler Institute of American Art, the City of Albuquerque, and the Hang Ming Shi Museum. His oil and pastel paintings have been featured in Southwest Art, American Artist, Workshop magazine, Artist magazine, and Practique des Arts, and he has contributed to Pastel Journal since 2003. He is the author of Pastel Pointers and The Landscape Paintings of Richard McKinley and has appeared in seven instructional DVDs. An avid plein air landscape painter, he balances painting on location, refining those studies in the studio, writing about art, and teaching. Registration is required. Enrollment is limited to 10 students.

August Wilson’s King Hedley II unfolds in 1985 Pittsburgh, following King as he confronts the weight of his past while reaching for a better future. A free, single-day celebration of culture takes place at Pear Blossom Park Blocks in Medford, featuring entertainment, games, and food.
