Fifth Friday partners with Thrive Umpqua and Umpqua Valley Farm to School to highlight foods and drinks that are grown, crafted, and poured in Douglas County. Enjoy complimentary samples at participating businesses as you wander between shops, connect with neighbors, and explore the heart of downtown. It is an easygoing way to discover local producers and support downtown merchants in a single delicious evening.

This plant sale offers tables filled with choices, including $10 ready made planters and $5 plant starts, with a bundle option of five starts for $20. Pond plants are available at $5 each or five for $20. Explore distinctive planters and a varied selection that includes air plants, carnivorous species, succulents, and tropicals.

Strengthen your balance in a focused class led by Dr. Garret Stroup of OrMobility Physical Therapy & Performance. Participants will work on balance skills with guidance from Dr. Stroup. This class is free.

At Central Art (ROSEBURG), instructor Leanna Weber leads a welcoming watercolor series centered on expressive imperfection and intuitive painting. Participants receive an approachable introduction to basic color mixing while learning to loosen up and let water and pigment move naturally on the page. Working with a simple three color palette, students explore movement, color, and spontaneity as they practice techniques such as wet-into-wet washes that settle into soft organic shapes, allowing hues to mingle on the paper, playful splattering and mark making that invites surprise, beginning without a strict sketch or outline, embracing irregular shapes, colors, and textures, layering uncomplicated floral forms to build a bouquet, and appreciating blooms as part of the artwork rather than trying to control them. Each session highlights a different theme, including landscapes, animals, portraits, birds, cityscapes, waterscapes, bugs and garden creatures, and fish and marine life. The atmosphere is low pressure and judgment free, underscoring that every painting is unique and that beauty often appears in the unexpected. Capacity is limited to 12 students. St. Andrew’s Ball embraces a masquerade theme this year, filling the Melrose Vineyards Tasting Room barn with classic dance tunes from the 50s through the 80s. Participants will explore how native insects, severe drought, and other abiotic stressors contribute to tree decline and mortality. Designed for small woodland owners and forestry professionals, this session aims to build skills in identifying these issues and navigating critical forest health challenges. The South County Rendezvous Resource Event brings together local agencies, nonprofits, and neighbors at Harvest Christian Assembly in Myrtle Creek to support residents across South County. Organized by ODHS, this community-focused series aligns with St. Vincent DePaul’s food box distribution and includes a free meal, access to clothing, and a range of helpful resources for individuals and families. Attendees can connect with service providers, share information, and learn about support available in the area. The event is open to all.

Thrive Umpqua and Umpqua Valley Arts Association present Third Thursday, a laid-back gathering in Gallery 2 that blends community connection and creativity. The event opens with a casual Happier Hour offering light snacks and beverages, with time to chat or explore the galleries. It then moves into a free hands-on art activity, and participants are welcome to bring a personal project if they prefer. Celebrate the season at a long-standing Douglas County tradition that brings together more than 300 artisans and makers. Recognized as the largest holiday craft fair in Southern Oregon and the biggest event of its kind in the county, it features an expansive selection of hand crafted goods, including clothing, home accents, baked treats, spices, lotions, soaps, wood creations, metal sculptures, and decorative art, along with many other unique finds. Admission is $6 for adults, with a $1 discount available when you contribute a canned food donation. Children 12 and under are admitted free.

The next Veterans' and First Responders' Tournament returns for a two-day run centered on raising funds for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Building on last year's $2,345 total, the new goal is to double the donation. With strong community backing previously, the event aims to carry that momentum forward.
